Lessons From Road Repairs 7/21/2018

Good Morning

I thought that a good idea would be to start this day with a hot cup of Door County Highlander Grog Coffee. The weather is cold and rainy today and my coffee cup is a source of comfort today.

Recently with all the road construction that is going on I had the miserable experience of sitting in traffic that did not move for about 15 minutes. While sitting there I watched a "steam roller' smoothing out some hot asphalt that was just poured.

Prior to the roller going over it, the asphalt was a lumpy mess of a pile. But once the pressure was applied it smoothed out and became useful.

Someone once said "it takes years of extreme pressure to turn a lump of coal into a diamond". I think that some day we all have diamond potentials.

I believe that from time to time God needs to steam roll all of us. We all need to shape up now and then and become useful again or more useful.

Hebrews 12:6-11
6 because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son." 7 Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? 8 If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons. 9 Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live! 10 Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness. 11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

Have a great Saturday and God bless,

Marty
