Having A Healthy Mind 7/10/2018

Good Morning,

The sun is going to be shining today according to the weather forecast so that is a positive thing for me to ponder. My mug was just filled with Door County Ethiopian Blend Coffee and it accompanied me to my morning prayer time.

Ever have someone get under your skin so bad that if a tornado came along and swept them up, you might just not feel too bad about it? How about those days when instead of working or educating yourself you watch television and your mind wanders to places it shouldn't go, because the show you chose isn't all that wholesome. How about the times we choose to bend the truth, even just a little?

You see what's happening here? We allow nasty distractions to enter our minds and we run the risk of acting on those distractions eventually, Our thoughts start to control our actions. Our mind has gotten the upper hand because we filled it with pollution. It is polluted because we have had control over it and have not surrendered our thoughts to God. We don't have healthy minds or thought processes because the polluted thoughts seem to have taken up all the space in our minds.

We need to acknowledge our desire for the nastiness of life and then ask God for some help in taking charge of our thoughts. This is done through prayer and dining on His Word. In some instances His Word will lead us to make some changes. It might be who you choose to hang out with or where you go. Someone obsessed with pornography will not find wholesome thoughts at a strip club.

Romans 8:6 New International Version (NIV)
The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.

Learn to apply what you read within the mine of God's Word. Each day dig deeper and deeper to find the peace of a healthy mind. We all fail but with each failure to apply what you have read, there is another chance just a page away from where you left off.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste.  Let this next verse be your hope for the change you desire to make.

1 Corinthians 2:13-16 New International Version (NIV)
13 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. 15 The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, 16 for,
“Who has known the mind of the Lord
    so as to instruct him?”[
But we have the mind of Christ

Enjoy your day. Keep your mind on track, so your life goes down the right path.

Marty
