Good Morning,
Friday has arrived in fine fashion with the gusto that it deserves. My mug was just filled with Door County Wisconsin Harvest Blend Coffee and now it is time to sit and out a pen to my thoughts.
Our local major league baseball team has had a pretty good year and has a chance to make the playoffs. Rene and I have managed to take in a couple of games this year. Both were quite enjoyable. The team hasn't had a good / great season in a few years. This year I see more and more people wearing tee shirts or hats with the teams insignia on them. It seems to me that when the team is winning more people want to go to the ballpark. They become super fans during the winning spree. They didn't go to the ball park when the team was losing. It's funny, when the team is winning they want to be there. When they are losing they don't show up to cheer the team on.
I believe it's like that in life. Some people never step into a church on Sundays but when they get close to dying they want to spend eternity with God. They won't go to His Earthly house now, but want to live with Him forever. This is their choice. They use God's name to curse, yet they want to call on Him for an eternal home. They play a game of chance in thinking they have time to call on Jesus just in time to secure their home. But those who have rejected Christ on Earth will not see the inside of heaven. The choice has to be made on Earth while alive. There isn't an entrance exam and interview process at heaven's gates to see who gets in when they die. It was all arranged ahead of time on Earth or it wasn't.
John 3:16-18New International Version (NIV)
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
Heaven is not an entitlement for people. It is a choice that needs to be made and a Savior that needs to be called upon.
God bless,
Marty
