Biscuit Cutter Days With a Recipe 9/7/2017

Good Morning,

This cup of Door County Peanut Butter Crunch Coffee sitting next to me is still steaming and our dog Gibbs is laying on my feet. This has the start of a great day.

I am one that likes to eat biscuits and gravy for breakfast now and then. I have been known to eat that Southern treat for dinner with a little bacon and eggs to spruce op the platter. I like to make fresh biscuits and I am not fond of the "mix them up and plop them down biscuits". To me they look like a small cow pie covered with gravy. I like to roll them out to a uniform thickness and then cut them with my trusty biscuit cutter. Then I place them on a plate (three) in a neat triangle type layout and then cover them with one ladle of gravy. To me the presentation means a lot. Orderly!

By now you are all holding a pity party for my wife, the lovely lady who married the odd duck of the flock!

I never said I wasn't strange, but here's my point. What if each day was like my plate of biscuits? Each day would be totally alike, predictable, uniform and arranged. Boring, Boring, Boring.

Lamentations 3:22-23English Standard Version (ESV)
22 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
    his mercies never come to an end;
23 they are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness.

God has created each day, some with challenges, some with surprises, some come with grief, some come with great joy. But each day is new, the day before is now yesterday and God has something for us to do, learn, or teach. The clouds are different each day. Rain comes and goes. Snow arrives and melts. Some days are hot and some are cold. God does not allow for us to be bored. We need to embrace each day as a gift and look to see what God is doing and join Him.

You might be embracing some trouble right now. Try to see what good can come of it or what you can learn and possible share with others. Your current troubles are your experience to share and educate others or to be able to sympathize with them. You can identify. If your day is joyous, you have something to share.

Psalm 118:24New King James Version (NKJV)
24 This is the day the Lord has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it.

Live life in a way that embraces each day as the day God has given. Rejoice in each day.

Love to all. Here's a good country gravy recipe. Go ahead and eat breakfast for dinner tonight.

Marty

1 pound breakfast sausage, hot or mild

  • Directions

    With your finger, tear small pieces of sausage and add them in a single layer to a large heavy skillet. Brown the sausage over medium-high heat until no longer pink. Reduce the heat to medium-low. Sprinkle on half the flour and stir so that the sausage soaks it all up, then add more little by little. Stir it around and cook it for another minute or so, then pour in the milk, stirring constantly.
    Cook the gravy, stirring frequently, until it thickens. (This may take a good 10 to 12 minutes.) Sprinkle in the seasoned salt and pepper and continue cooking until very thick and luscious. If it gets too thick too soon, just splash in another 1/2 cup of milk or more if needed. Taste and adjust the seasoning.
    Spoon the sausage gravy over warm biscuits and serve immediately
