I can't wait until the Door County Black Velvet Coffee is finished brewing. It is going to be a great addition to my Cheerios. We say farewell to January today and hello to February tomorrow.
What's missing in the picture above? This is a photo of a place where Rene and I like to stay for short getaways. This is a small sitting area that I will often do some very early morning reading. It is warm and very inviting. The small fireplace is adequate and the quiet is heavenly.
But what's missing in the photo? The answer is simple. It is Rene and I sitting and enjoying our surroundings and one another's company. You see, a room is just a room until people are added. A house is just a house until people make it a home. A book is not enjoyed until someone opens it and reads. A fireplace does no one any good until a person lights it. This place cannot be enjoyed unless someone goes there. A prayer is not a prayer until it is said. People are important to all of us. But!!!
During these uncertain times we all need to retreat to a quiet place and enjoy some time away from politics, economies, violence and anger. Did I mention that we spend some great quiet time here? During our time away we both find that our prayer time is just a little sweeter because we have removed ourselves from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We take time to enjoy the quiet and spend it with God in prayer.
Quiet is Important for Spiritual Growth
“But the LORD is in his holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him.” (Habakkuk 2:20)
“In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength.” (Isaiah 30:15)
“Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10
So have a terrific day! Find some quiet.
Marty
