Do You Hear What They Heard? 1/4/2017

Good Morning,

My day is beginning with prayer for dear friends as I wait for my Door County Jingle Bell Java Coffee.

Jesus sent out seventy two disciples to tell others about repenting and the Good News of Jesus Christ. He gave them power over all things. When they came back they were amazed at all the things they did through the power Jesus gave them.

Luke 10:17-24

17 The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”
18 He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. 20 However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
21 At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.
22 “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”
23 Then he turned to his disciples and said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. 24 For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.”

Jesus then reminded them that them the authority over Satan was given to them by Him. They overcame all opposition in the name of Jesus. What I love about this passage is that these ordinary men saw things that were indescribable and heard from God where to go and what to do. They were truly Spirit led.

The question I have to ask is this. When was the last time you saw the unexplainable and heard from God giving you distinct instructions? Maybe it has been awhile and you are in a dry time Spiritually?
But there are two things that usually are the culprits of Spiritual dry spells.

One is that we are wrapped up in sin and God can't use us until we get right with Him. The second is this. You have to be willing to go and be obedient to His call. You can't experience much from sitting in front of your television.

What holds you back? Whatever it is needs to be tossed and buried. Make a list of those things that might be holding you back. Pray, and then post it on your refrigerator as a reminder as to what needs to leave.

What a sound it is to hear from God!

Have a blessed day.

Marty
