Monday arrived just in time to remind me that the weekend is over. So I look forward to this week and hopefully learning a couple things about Noah and his ark. My coffee that is steaming away is Door County Caramel Apple.
Last Saturday I mentioned that "putting others first" is something we would dive into a little deeper. Let's take a look at that subject.
Putting others before ourselves is not normal, natural, nor comfortable. Yet, as Christians, we believe we are given a new nature at salvation. We are a new creation. Part of this nature is shown to us in Galatians 6:22 and 23. The fruit of the Spirit is really about putting others first.
We will look at some advice this week on how to put others first, Step one is to check your attitude.“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” ~ Galatians 6:22,23
Do you have an attitude of compassion?
Show and Practice Compassion.
One of the many attributes that characterizes Jesus is His compassion. Of course He was God, but He was also a man who wanted to serve others because of His love for them. Jesus Christ is our perfect example.
We can ask the Lord to develop compassion in our lives. He said to His followers that those who are truly His disciples will show love to one another. It is probably easier to love fellow Christians than those who do not know our Father, but the example that Christ gave was of Him loving everyone regardless of their spiritual condition. Sometimes it's hard to even show compassion to believers.
So the question for today is where are you on the compassion meter? More tomorrow. We will look at this subject through tomorrow.
God bless,
Marty
