Life Is a Box Of Chocolates 2/13/2015

Good Morning,

Happy Friday to each and everyone of you. Today's coffee flavor is Door County Mocha Mint. I have settled in my mind that today is going to be cold, leading to colder tomorrow and so the plan is to bring in more firewood, drink hot coffee and make some chili.

1 Peter 1:13-15
Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,

I see many a man walking out of stores this week with a decorative box of chocolates. Tom Hanks in the movie Forest Gump said "Life is like a box of chocolates. You just never know what you are going to get".  These are words that ring true. In a box of assorted chocolates it is hard, almost impossible to tell what type of chocolate and flavor you are getting until you take a bite. By that time it's on to the teeth, passed the tongue, look out stomach here it comes. Some of those assorted chocolates might appeal to you and others might make your face twist in "yuck convulsions". But you pull through and if the truth be known you will dip into the chocolate box again next year hoping that you find the ones you like before the rest of the family does. You are playing "chocolate roulette" with your taste buds. I for one after 58 years have learned to leave the chocolate box lottery for others. I am usually the one making faces and wanting to spit. So I just move on, away from that which does me no good.

In life many people stray away from the yuck of life, but tend to try it just one more time and hope for different results. For instance the alcoholic, might think that one drink won't hurt, until he or she is drinking daily and is out of control. Their life just took a repulsive, convulsive turn for the worst.

Here's the point. You know what is bad for you and could make you squirm and spin out of control. So stay away from it. Why gamble on a different result. The box of chocolates called life sends different things at us each day. By now you know what is good for you and what is bad. Avoid every temptation. Don't put yourself into a position to see just how much you can take.

Have a great day!

Marty
