Good Morning,
It is expected to be a hot day in my part of this world today. Yet I am still enjoying a hot cup of Door County Heroes Blend Coffee as I write this morning.
In the United States we celebrate our independence today and I thought I would share a lesson learned from two of our Founding Fathers. As like all men they had their flaws, but despite being just men, we can still learn a thing or two from their beliefs.
The American Founding Fathers not only shaped the existence of the United States, they accomplished a world changing revolution which continues to have an impact today. As Christians and Deists, the Founding Fathers believed in the Providence of God. They understood that God reigned over the human history.
Daniel 4;17 NIV The decision is announced by messengers, the holy ones declare the verdict, so that the living may know that the Most High is sovereign over all kingdoms o earth and gives them to anyone he wishes and sets over them the lowliest of people.
George Washington wrote many times about divine providence in his letters and speeches. He realized that a small rag tag army could only have defeated a much larger, better equipped, and organized army because of God's divine intervention. He stressed how much the United States had to be thankful for.
Benjamin Franklin, not very orthodox in his doctrine called for prayer at the Constitutional Convention where the US Constitution was penned. This reminded them of their national and international duties and that they needed the assistance of God.
Today in the Untitled States we enjoy many freedoms and rights, fought for by our Forefathers and a small army. But we all should be on our knees thanking God for His intervention which used a small army. The odds were against them but God is able to beat the odds.
God bless America Land That I love.
Marty
