It's Common Sense Or Lack Of 7/6/2025

 Good Morning,

There is a hot cup of Door County Peanut Butter Crunch Coffee next to me and pretty soon I will be headed out of the door for some volunteer work. I hope the heat let's up a little.

Last week I heard a reporter interviewing an elected official regarding the epidemic of reckless drivers plaguing the larger cities in the United States. As I listened to the proposed solution I could not help but laugh out loud. The official was lobbying for more money to "educate teens" on the hazards of reckless driving.

Really?? The last few accidents caused by by reckless driving have produced dead bodies. Some if not all of the cars were stolen. I checked and two were drivers with revoked licenses. So do you think that those with reprobate minds will attend a class and change their ways? The law abiding citizens see the consequences of reckless driving every day on the news. Or they see the smashed cars sitting on their lawns or adjacent streets. Safety movies will scare the law abiding people and do nothing for a hardened heart.

Elected officials need to support law enforcement and insist that the punishment for these violations is enforced to the maximum. Judges should be held accountable to keep crime from returning to the streets. Too many repeat offenses.

Then the community needs to get involved in three ways. 1. If you see it report it. 2. Own your own kids and teach them from young on, right from wrong. Turn them in if necessary 3.Churches need to get out of the festival moods and spend more time praying together for God to step in and take back our streets, our laws, and protect our cities. Pray that we elect officials with backbone . However, An encounter with God is the most likely thing to change the reprobate heart. We need safer streets.

1. Timothy 1:9 Understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their mothers and fathers, for murderers.

I never heard of a bingo game saving anyone's life. I have heard of miracles through prayer though.

God bless,

Marty
