Good Morning,
My mug is filled with Door County Jamaican Me Crazy Coffee and I am ready to write. In a little bit I will be making a two hour trip to honor the life of a friend. I can stay for about an hour and then must return home. It will be a brief trip.
Romans 13:7 Pay to all what is owed to them" Taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to who revenue is owed , respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honored is owed.
The life I am honoring is that of a friend who's mother passed away. The funny thing is that I never knew her first name. I have known this family since 1964 and never knew her first name. She was and always will be known to me as Mrs. Anderson.
My buddy introduced me to his mom back in the day and she said to me, I am Mrs. Anderson. As the years passed her title for her name and my experience with her never changed. I will take this a little further. Just recently my high school held a reunion. I was unable to attend. But I watched the reunion closely through social media. I chatted with friends about it. A few of the teachers and coaches we were taught by managed to come to the event. As I conversed about it with my friends, we all still referred to them as Mr. or Coach. We honored them by respectfully adding their title to their last name.
We never grow old enough to not pay honor to those who have earned their title. Pay honor to those who at one time were bigger than life to you and especially when they are in person.
There was one football coach attending the event and just seeing him address the old team in a photo made me stand taller, and if I had been there I would have called him Mr. or Coach and then his last name. . I would not have called him Frank unless told to do so. And I don't think that would have happened.
Have a great day.
Marty
