Good Morning,
I am enjoying a slow, hot cup of Door County Blackberry Shortcake Coffee in a Waffle House Mug. I agree. I have some weird habits.
James 2:14-18 What good is it my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? 15. If a brother or sister is poorly clothed or lacking in daily food, 16. and one of you says to them, "Go in peace and be warmed and filled," without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? 17. So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. 18. But someone will say, "You have faith and I have works." and I will show you my faith by works.
In a few minutes our nephew Matt and I will be heading out to shoot sporting clays at a local gun club. The funds raised go toward the battle of cancer. I lost my younger sister to pancreatic cancer a few years ago, and for some reason that one sticks me in the ribs to this day. She followed the doctor's prescribed battle plan and for two months or maybe a little more she was pronounced "cancer free". I can still hear how excited she was to make that announcement. It seemed too good to be true. And it was. Because a short time later the cancer came back with a vengeance. In no time she was on her death bed and then gone. My brother has also gone toe to toe with cancer. By God's grace he survived his battle.
I knew my sister's faith in Jesus was solid and I have no doubt that she resides in heaven now.
My point for the day is this. There are always causes to support. Whatever cause has plagued your family or your own life, get involved and do something. I am positive that Matt and I will never find the cure for cancer, but we do what we can to support the battle. I challenge you all to pray for your cause, but don't hesitate to do something to support the cause. Our niece in law's father, battles Huntington's Disease and that whole family is in the fight to defeat the disease. They put their time and money where their mouths are.
Worried about starving children. Do something about it.
So to conclude my thought, if it is worth praying for, it is also worth your time and financial support.
Have an active faith? I hope so.
God bless,
Marty
