The Old Man and the Boy 5/7/2013

Good Morning,
The old cup is filled today with some Door County German Chocolate Coffee.
I have been blessed with 12 year old Grandson who resides in Florida. Over the past few years he has braved his way to Wisconsin on a plane by himself. While visiting here we usually head to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to visit my Dad. Our visit will always include some fish on a small lake where we enjoy a lot of action. Last summer it became time to teach him another manly skill. The art of shooting a rifle. We taught him how to handle a 22 single shot rifle. We used balloons as targets and he did well. He had to stay disciplined to hit the target and be safe.
We do a lot of things while he visits. He enjoys a lot of fishing, shooting and go-karts.
One other many thing we do is talk about Bible Verses and we memorize some together. I consider that the job description of a Dad and Grandpa. It is also my job to help him to stay of target with a Godly life.
Deuteronomy 6:6-9
6 “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
So spend time teaching kids God's Word. It is in your job description as a Christian.
God bless,
Marty
