Smiles And The Flu 9/6/2018

Good Morning,

I am brewing my first pot of Door County Pumpkin Spice Coffee for 2018 with all the hope I can muster for the weather to turn cold. Cold weather always makes pumpkin anything taste better.

Yesterday I was listening to the national news and according to the Center For Disease Control in Atlanta the flu season is just around the corner. The news cast declared that people should get vaccinated for this highly contagious illness early, before it really sets in. They used the word contagious about five times during their broadcast.

Definition of contagious
1 : transmissible by direct or indirect contact with an infected person
I was doing a little thinking about the word contagious and I concluded this. If an illness can be passed on to another person by direct or indirect contact, something nice should be able to be shared also.

What we all have the ability to do is to smile.

Definition of smile for Students
smiled; smiling

1 : make the corners of the mouth turn up in an expression of amusement or pleasure
If we can all smile and we can, I personally believe we can create a smile epidemic just by smiling and making eye contact, or even saying hello with a smile. I believe smiles just might be the cure for depression or anger. This can be enjoyed by the giver of the smile and the receiver.

1. Proverbs 15:30 “A cheerful look brings joy to the heart; good news makes for good health.”

2. Proverbs 17:22 “A joyful heart is good medicine, but depression drains one’s strength.”

3. Proverbs 15:13-15 “A glad heart makes a happy facea broken heart crushes the spirit. A wise person is hungry for knowledge, while the fool feeds on trash. For the despondent, every day brings trouble; for the happy heart, life is a continual feast

Just a thought for today. Smile, someone is looking your way.

Marty
