Happy Friday to all! Today is a great day for a cup of Door County Turtles In A Cup Coffee and a piece of toast with honey.
1 John 4:11-14 English Standard Version (ESV)
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.13 By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.
You all know what I am talking about when I say that some people are not easy to love. You know, that one person that punches everyone of your buttons. The one that you wish would be infested by fleas. Well God has something to say about that subject.
In our Scripture we see that God loved us so much He let His Son Jesus pay our debt of sin on the cross at Calvary. Now as we focus on the next part of that sentence we are to love those around us unconditionally. As our sins hurt the Savior, He died for us anyway and did not hold a grudge. This is a tall task but it is a clear expectation of us from God. It is true that if we love one another we show that God abides in us and that His love is perfected in us. This includes loving those who are not easy for us to love. We have no excuse except selfishness when we deny loving others saying "I can't".
Philippians 4:13 New King James Version (NKJV)
13 I can do all things through [a]Christ who strengthens me.
It is our own selfishness and rebellious nature that keeps us from experiencing a full and powerful relationship with God. We can't experience that relationship until we admit our sin and work to love those around us, especially those who are hard for us to love.
We need to submit to the will of God and take our position in the family of God seriously. A lot said in a short time. So chew on it for awhile and let God show you how to love those people. Oh! He already did. He went to the mat for them on Calvary!
