Staying Warm in Cold Weather 1/6/2014

Day two of the extreme cold weather in our region. My coffee this morning is Door County White Christmas.

So Good Morning Dear Friends.

Today schools cancelled classes here because of the cold. It is way too cold to be active outside and my heart and prayers go out to those who must be outside because of circumstances beyond their control.  If you are in this region please watch out for those who might need some assistance during this time. If you can help do so.

Extra blankets and warm liquids will warm the body, but what will you do to warm your heart and souls while cooped up inside? For us it will be an extra log on the fire, the blanket, some quiet music and our Bibles and a book we are studying, check on our neighbor and a brother who are both down with injuries. The hot chocolate will be served after a supper of hot soup. We have decided to leave the television off except for the news. We will be off to bed early to stay healthy.

Here are some suggestions for warming the heart and soul.

If you have the capabilities, check on someone else and bring them some hot soup from your house. Give an extra blanket to someone in need.

Acts 20:35
In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

If you have a radio tune it into the local Christian channel and enjoy a sermon or two. Listen to some Christian music. If you are really blessed and can listen to the Bible via computer or CD, light a candle and listen as the candle flickers.

Or read your Bible by candle light. Some how that is just a really neat experience.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 3:14-17

But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.

Psalm 119:11

I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

2 Timothy 2:15

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

Joshua 1:8

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Hey guess what? This works in any weather. You might have to substitute a fan for the hot fire in the summer and a patio torch for a candle, but it works!

God bless,
Marty
