When Facing a Crisis. 11/23/13

Good Morning Friends.

It is really cold here in Wisconsin and I am headed out duck hunting this morning. My Thermos is filled with Door County Pumpkin Spice Coffee. We all face a crisis from time to time. Some last longer than others. I have always felt that when I was going through a crisis Psalm 46 gave me the assurance that I would make it and God was there for me. I have highlighted some important insights that can help. Keep this Psalm handy in your Bible medicine chest.

Psalm 46

God is our refuge and strength,  Who is our refuge and available to help always? GOD
    an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way GOD removes fear despite circumstances
    and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
    and the mountains quake with their surging.[c]
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, Who can make me glad in a crisis? GOD
    the holy place where the Most High dwells.
God is within her, she will not fall;
    God will help her at break of day.
Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; Who rules the Earth? GOD
    he lifts his voice, the earth melts.
The Lord Almighty is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress. Who is a fort that can hide us and protect us? GOD
Come and see what the Lord has done,
    the desolations he has brought on the earth.
He makes wars cease
    to the ends of the earth. Who can bring peace? GOD
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
    he burns the shields[d] with fire.
10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; Who says "Don't do it alone?" God
    I will be exalted among the nations,
    I will be exalted in the earth.”
11 The Lord Almighty is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Think about it. Before you call a friend when you are in a crisis. Did you pray and ask God to help first? Or did you call a human with less than God's resume for crisis management?
Have a great day.
Marty
