Why do they do what they do? The CMA 9/3/13

Good Morning on this fine day.

Off to work with a hot cup of Door County Chocolate Melt Down Coffee. It isn't quite cold enough to break out the fall flavors, but any day soon I will be downing some Door County Maple.

Have you ever wondered what drives people to work so hard in athletics? I have read where figure skaters spend hours on the ice often starting at 4:00 AM. Swimmers putting in miles at the pool. They are driven by their love for competition and for the love of their sport.

I watched for the past few days the Christian Motorcycle Association work countless hours, taking time off of work to man  booths that distributed Gospel Tracts during the Harley Davidson 110th Anniversary Celebration in Milwaukee. They met for hours and prayed for the Harley riders.

But what makes them do this? It is a simple answer. Love! Love for Jesus and love for their fellow man. They gave up many hours of their life that others may know about eternal life with God.

2 Corinthians 5:14-15 (NIV)14 For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. 15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

John 15:13 (KJV)13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

So that is it what drives them. This devotional is short. But it comes with a challenge. Are you willing to give up some earth time for someone else's eternity?

God bless,
Marty
