Teenagers and God 8/8/13

Good morning,

Happy Thursday to you. I wish we could meet and share a cup of Door County Cherry Creme Coffee.

I hear a lot of people these days running down the teenagers of today. I must admit that some of their clothing styles aren't exactly my cup of tea. I believe belts should be worn at the waist not around the socks of young men. But then again we used to cut the hem out of our jeans and let the bottoms get all frayed. But at least my drawers were covered.

Enough fashion consulting. Last week while on a mission trip to Washington DC I had the privilege to work with two groups of teens who were sold out for Jesus. They performed hard hot labor and then fed the homeless. They also spread the Good News of Jesus Christ. They came to serve and serve they did.

Now what causes a teen to leave their home, game boys, cell phones and televisions for a week?

The only answer is this. God called them and they were obedient to the call. During the week they prayed for food to give the homeless. They were given way more than they needed. God showed them a few miracles. This provision of food was just one example.

But the main thing is that they were called for a week and they "gave it up". They went and joined God and saw Him at work.

So just when you think that the guy wearing his belt around his socks and the girl who's shorts are so tight that she cannot breath, might be useless, remember that God can use all these and more. He can use you too. Be a teen again give up a week and make a difference for Jesus.

Matthew 4:19 (KJ21) 19 And He said unto them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

Have a good one.

Marty
