Bacon Fest and God1/31/2013

Good Morning,

My coffee today is a hot cup of Totally Nuts from the Door County Coffee Company!

This past Saturday, friends of ours were telling us about an event happening in Milwaukee called Bacon Fest. It is being held at the Harley Davidson Museum. They said there would be a lot of vendors giving out samples of different things covered, smothered or made with bacon.

Well I am a fan of bacon and truly believe that many things are just better if they contain bacon, or are covered in bacon. My Dr. would advise me that it is better to cover a burger with bean sprouts and broccoli! Or eat a veggie burger. Argh.

But Bacon fest reminds me of God. "What, you say?!!!!!!"

Romans 8:31       God’s Everlasting Love

31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Think about it! Isn't everything we do better if God is involved. Even SIN! "What, you say? Sin is better with God in it?" No, I did not drink too much of the Totally Nuts Coffee!!! Sin is better because if God is in all we do He convinces us that the sin is not a good idea and gives us Biblical principals to live by. He always provides a way out of falling to the temptation.

1 Corinthians 10:13

13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

Amazing thought! God and bacon! Does He cover your life and add a sweet flavor to all you do?

God bless,
Marty

Pet Duty 1/30/2013

Good Morning. A full cup of Door County Coconut Coffee is in front of me.

I like to write about my two dogs Fritz and Gibbs. They are a blessing to me and are close, loving companions. My wife Rene and I take good care of them. Did you know that caring for your animals can be found in the Bible?

Proverbs 12:10

Whoever is righteous has regard for the life of his beast, but the mercy of the wicked is cruel.

Proverbs 27:23

Know well the condition of your flocks, and give attention to your herds,

Genesis 1:20-21

And God said, “Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the heavens.” So God created the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

So when you pamper and take good care of your pets you are doing what God expects.

Have a great day!
God bless,
Marty

Distractions 1/29/2013

Good morning to you.

Today I am drinking a cup of Door County German Chocolate Cake Coffee. It is time to write.

Yesterday I wrote about how  I sometimes get distracted when wanting to study or write these devotionals.  Well while writing yesterday's posting I noticed it was too quiet in the house and one dog was missing in action. Now Gibbs is a 10 month old puppy. I have to say as puppies go he has been pretty good in his behavior. But when I found him he had committed the ultimate crime in our home. He went into the my wife's plant room to chase the older dog. You see he still thinks that every day is a play day. You just gotta love puppies. But HE TRASHED A SMALL PLANT! Argh ! One that had been watered the night before. Oh boy I thought we will both suffer the wrath of the keeper of the plants. ( Dear Wife) In all honesty it did not hurt my feelings to toss the plant, but they are hers and I felt bad for all three of us. I am not a plant lover unless it produces food!

What to do? Well I found out we owned a vacuum cleaner. I also found out you can't vacuum mud!!  Now what? I do recall a machine my wife uses to clean carpets! Ah Ha.  A mud remover!!! Now I did tell her about the incident. But it was cleaned up asap once I pulled it all together.

The whole thing reminded me of two Godly ideas. We have all sinned and need atonement. Romans 3:23
Like the puppy we cannot clean up the mess ourselves. We need Jesus Christ the Son of God to do it for us. Now the puppy gladly accepted the help and the consequences of a time out for his sins. But all, everyone has sinned and needs a Savior.

John 3:16

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

What do you say to that? This is the Good News of Jesus Christ. You can have the assurance that your sins can be forgiven and have an eternal home in heaven with God. If you have never invited Jesus in say a prayer something like this.

Dear Jesus,
I admit that I am a sinner. I have done many things that don’t please you. I have lived my life for myself. I am sorry and I repent of rejecting you all these years. I ask you to forgive me. I believe that you died on the cross for me, to save me. You did what I could not do for myself. I come to you now and ask you to take control of my life, I give it to you. Help me to live every day in a way that pleases you. I love you, Lord, and I thank you that I will spend all eternity with you.Amen.

If you prayed that prayer contact me at fritzschutte@aol.com and I will email you the the next steps in Christian growth.

If you are a Christian and know someone who needs Jesus as Lord and Savior link them to this page or share the Good News with them today.

God bless,
Marty

Cabin in the Woods 1/28/2013

Good Morning World.

If someone has not told you today that you are loved, let me be the first one. Love to all of you.
Starting my day with a new flavor of coffee for me. It is Door County Totally Nuts. Please hold back the comments like "that explains a lot about you".

Once a year I travel to do a little pheasant hunting in Western Wisconsin with a few good friends. I have been going to the same place for about 25 years. It is just for a day or two. Our outfitter has a lot of acreage that we can hunt. He also has two places where we can sleep. An old farm house which is well equipped and a cabin way back in the woods. I always choose the cabin. It is well equipped and has some bunk beds for sleeping. Often I hear one of my buddies say. "Hey there isn't any cell phone reception here." I think to myself "I know and isn't that nice?" Quiet!!!!  For a few years I actually have been heading up there the night before with just my dog (Gibbs), a study book, a bible, and me. The other guys arrive the next day just before noon. Now I am not anti social but I am always 7 kinds of busy. I go there alone to binge on time with God, pray and listen to Him.

Jeremiah 33:3
'Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.'

I look forward to the guys arriving. I do miss my wife and home but sometimes you just need that quiet place alone with God. I do have quiet times at home but some how there is always a distraction or two.

Mark 1:35-37

35 Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed. 36 And Simon and those who were with Him searched for Him. 37 When they found Him, they said to Him, “Everyone is looking for You.”

Where do you go to get this kind of time with God? I have to say that I know it is important to do so.

Find a place, a park for an hour, a spot by a lake, a closet, your favorite spot! You think you are alone there, but you aren't. God is with you!

Go today in peace. Have a great day.

Pheasant. It's what's for supper. Devotional and Recipe 1/27/2013

Good morning. Ahhh Sunday
A day of worship, a day of rest, a day to be grateful. I am starting today with a cup of Door County Hawaiian Hazelnut Coffee.

Today is the Sabbath, a day of worship to our God and King. This loving God sent His Son Jesus to die for our sins and atone for us. That is the one thing I am grateful for, more than anything.

John 3:16New King James Version (NKJV)

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

What does this have to do with pheasants? I am glad you are asking that. When I think of all that Jesus did by dying for me it makes me stand in awe and wonder. You all know that I am an avid hunter and enjoy watching my dogs flush a bird and with any luck I can hit it and bring it home for supper. Before I hunt I ask God to bless me with safety and if it is His will that I can bring something home.
Jesus tells us to pray and ask in His name.

If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

But when I think about all that I pray for and compare the suffering, shame and death on a cross for me, how can I even ask for anything more? That's how much we are loved by God, He blesses us with salvation through His only Son and yet He tells us to bring our concerns to Him also. Now if that isn't love than the oceans are dry and eagles don't fly.

1 Peter 5:7
Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

I added my favorite pheasant recipe for you.
God bless
Marty
PS: It works with  turkey or chicken too.

A Godly Wife 1/26/2013

Good Morning,
I am starting out my day with a hot cup of Door County Cherry Creme Coffee.

From reading these devotionals you probably can tell that I am married. I usually do not say much about my wife in my writings. She likes to say that she has "been married for a thousand years!"

Let me tell you a little about her. She likes cheese burgers, lasagna, shopping for antiques, decorating for Christmas and vacations.

Here is what I love about her. She loves the Lord Jesus Christ. She is compassionate and faithful. She assists me in my ministries. She prays often and reads her Bible. God is first in her life and she puts others before herself.

What is she? She is a Godly woman. She is a gift from God to me.

Proverbs 31:26
She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels.

Proverbs 31:20-21
She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household are clothed in scarlet.

Thank you Lord for blessing me with a gift that only you could have created.

Men! Date your wives. Young men treat your girlfriends with dignity and respect.
Have a great day
Marty
PS: A thousand years? Seems like just yesterday. Fooled her! She will see me eternally some day! she is stuck with me forever and I am so pleased.

What you leave behind you when you go! 1/25/2013

Hey Good Morning World! God loves you!

I am starting the day with a big cup of Door County Grandmas Ginger Cookie Coffee. I hope your day is blessed.

This Saturday I have a special privilege. I was asked to join a good friend of mine to celebrate his son's 13th birthday with a few other guys. Part of the celebration was to have each of us share a favorite Bible verse and our thoughts on being a Godly man,  and they would place them on a card.  I thought about that for a day or so and I have to say I was excited to pass something on to our young friend.

Let me ask you this?
What is your favorite Bible verse? Does your family know what it is?
What is your favorite recipe?
What advice would you write down for your family or friends?

I write to my daughter in a leather bound journal. I write some of my thoughts, Bible verses, advice and Martyisms. I write about some fun we had, grief we both shared, my likes and dislikes, and some of my fears.  I don't write every day, but quite often. I want to leave her something when I go home some day to heaven. She will know my thoughts, a recipe or two. And of course receive some Biblical wisdom.

What will you leave behind as far as knowledge and wisdom? We won't always be there to remind our families of what we learned and taught. Some of your family, you might not ever meet. But they can read about you. Did you know this is actually Biblical?

Proverbs 6:20 -23
“My son, keep your father’s commands, and don’t forget your mother’s teaching.

Keep their words in mind forever as though you had them tied around your neck.
They will guide you when you walk. They will guard you when you sleep.
They will speak to you when you are awake.

These commands are like a lamp; this teaching is like a light.
And the correction that comes from them will help you have life

What will you leave behind you when you go?

Love ya!

Walking with Jesus 1/24/2013

Good Morning.
My coffee cup is filled with Door County Heavenly Caramel this morning. I have resolved today that I will remember that I never walk alone. Most of all I will remember Who walks with me.
One of my favorite songs is "You'll Never Walk Alone"

R. Rogers/O. Hammerstein II

When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark

At the end of the storm
Is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of the lark

Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed and blown

Walk on walk on with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone

When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark

At the end of the storm
Is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of the lark

Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed and blown

Walk on walk on with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk

You'll never walk
You'll never walk alone

Hebrews 13:5 - [Let your] conversation [be] without covetousness; [and be] content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Matthew 28:20 - Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.

God bless your walk today.

Springer Spaniels and Love 1/23/2013

Good Morning!

Starting my day with some Door County Cherry Creme Coffee.

My wife and I are the proud owners of two Springer Spaniels. They are named Fritz and Gibbs. As most of you know, I am an avid hunter. Our two dogs are my hunting buddies.

From time to time I have a bad day and come home in a foul mood. I try hard not to, but it happens. Each day as the door opens those two pups greet me at the door. They overwhelm me some times and I will yell at them. They run off with their feelings hurt and watch to see if my mood changes. I may even go off to bed later without scratching their ears before sleep sets in. But when the alarm goes off they are right there to greet me again with tails wagging and enthusiasm for me. It's called unconditional love. That's how it is with God. He loves us despite ourselves and wants to have a deep relationship each day.

Nothing can separate us from the Love of God
Romans 8:37-39

He waits patiently each day to hear from us and comes running when we call.

James 4:8

8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.

Shouldn't we treat others like God treats us? We can learn a lot about God by watching Springer Spaniels.

God bless,
Marty

Harmony in the home 1-22-2013

Dear Friends,
Good morning. I am drinking a big cup of Door County Cherry Creme Coffee today.

Psalms Chapter 127

1 (A Song of degrees for Solomon.) Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh [but] in vain.

Families seem to be busier now compared to when I was a kid. Families seem to break apart more now compared to when I was a kid.

How can a family make it? We see in Psalm 127 that we really cannot make it without help. Only God can build and maintain families.

Unless we lead our families to a full blown personal relationship with God we labor day and night in vain.

Will you say "I surrender all? Lead me Lord! We need to put God first at all times. Let's start with family peace and then move on to the world!
Six Suggestions to Help.
1 Family Prayer
2 Family Bible Time
3 Family Fun Night
4 Husbands and Wives! Date each other.
5 Dad, spend time with each kid individually.
6 Attend the same church.
What have you got to lose? Try it.

God bless,
Marty

Winter is Godly 1/21/2013

Good morning,
It could be described as frigid here in Wisconsin today. My Coffee is Door County Heavenly Caramel.

I actually don't not mind the cold weather. Although the severe cold that we are experiencing can be dangerous.
But here is how I enjoy the cold.
I wear the right clothing.
I cut wood to burn in my fireplace. Nothing like a crackling fire and a cup of hot chocolate.
I try to do all I can to take care of our vehicles so they will start on days like these.
I spend a little more time indoors and read.

I enjoy reading my Bible, praying and listening to God. On this cold morning I thought I would share some Bible verses dealing with winter. You pick out the one that warms your heart and pass it on to someone today.
Winter Bible Verses~
“As long as the earth endures, seed time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.” ~Genesis 18:22

“It was You who set all the boundaries of the earth; You made both summer and winter.” ~Psalm 74:17

“He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth,’ and to the rain shower, ‘Be a mighty downpour.’” ~Job 37:6

“Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion!… He gives snow like wool; He scatters the frost like ashes. He casts forth His ice as fragments, Who can stand before His cold? He sends forth His word and melts them He causes His wind to blow and the waters to flow.” ~Psalm 147:12-18

“From whose womb has come the ice? And the frost of heaven, who has given it birth?” ~Job 38:29

“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire. And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. For you will go out with joy and be led forth with peace; The mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you, And all the trees of the field will clap their hands.” ~Isaiah 55:10-12

“Out of the south comes the storm, And out of the north the cold. From the breath of God ice is made, And the expanse of the waters is frozen.” ~Job 37:9-10

“Like the cold of snow in the time of harvest Is a faithful messenger to those who send him, For he refreshes the soul of his masters.” ~Proverbs 25:13

“Like one who takes off a garment on a cold day, or like vinegar on soda, Is he who sings songs to a troubled heart.” ~Proverbs 25:20

God bless, have a great day.

When you are needed 1/20/2013

Good morning,
Just finishing up the last of my Door County Coffee Holiday Flavors. White Christmas is in the cup!

A couple days ago I received a call that one of our young pastors from my church may have had a heart attack and was on his way to the hospital by ambulance. As I prayed I thought  "4 little kids and a wife, help us Lord."
I was just leaving work and started to head that way so I could pray with him and his wife. I informed my wife that I would be a little late and why. She asked "where are the kids?" I told her that I would find out and let her know.

Here's the story. We are "empty nesters" and have a lot of time to ourselves. Our kids live 1100 miles away. It does get a little boring with just each other from time to time. And our visits with the kids are not frequent enough.,

At the hospital the doctors told us that it wasn't a heart attack but it was serious. It seems his lung collapsed and he would need a thoracic procedure to inflate the lung and a hospital stay was imminent. Then they would check the next day to see if it would stay inflated. I stayed with our pastor and his wife. We prayed and chatted and I went home after the procedure. We knew he was going to a room and doing better.

During this time, we knew the kids, although very capable were home with each other, the oldest being 12 and the rest younger with one little rascal named Caleb!  My wife went to sit with the kids and pray with them. Later she told me how wonderful they were and the oldest girl gave her assignments as to what they needed done so mom would be pleased with the way the house looked when she got home. They all worked together and the littlest ones went to bed after reading my wife a story!!!!!

Well long story short, my wife came home full of life and I knew God had been with all of us. My Dear Friend and Pastor was hurting yet we felt blessed. We saw God's hand at work to restore his health. No one sat alone. And we were needed! Not that I am a tragedy seeker for my needs. But God used us and it felt good.
You are as lonely as you choose to be. And you have no excuses. Why? The Bible says we all have talents to be used for others. Are you willing to be used, less lonely and more content?

1 Peter 4:10
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace:         1 Peter 4:10-11
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Have a great day. Spend it with someone.

Good Morning Lord, Shooooo Devil 1/18/2013

Good morning,
Earlier this week I mentioned that I went to the Dr. for a physical. Well I didn't have to give up coffee. So this morning, bring on the Door County Cherry Creme!!

Back to the physical. My Dr. also advised more exercise. !!!!Only if duck season could last all year! I would be in shape then.

When I lead mission trips I like to have the teams wake up and do just a little exercise to get them going. I have two purposes in doing that. At the same time we stretch to the sky I have them say
"Morning Lord". As they touch their toes I have them say Shooooo Devil!!!!

If you believe in God you have to believe there is a devil. But the devil likes to think he has power over us. He really tries and sometimes he wins. But he does not have to win.

1 Peter 5:8

8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

James 4:8
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

How about some spiritual exercise and some physical exercise? Tell the Devil to take the "hike". Don't let him into your weekend!

God bless,
Marty

Clam Chowder and God 1/18/2013 With a recipe

Good Morning. Happy Friday
My coffee is Door County Jingle Bell Java.

My wife and I plan on enjoying a bowl of clam chowder tonight. Out regional temperatures are supposed to plummet. What does this devotion have to do with clam chowder. Nothing, except that clam chowder is good. The ingredients are Godly.

James 1:17

New King James Version (NKJV)
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

Clam Chowder Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter  God made cows, milk and ultimately butter.
  • 1 medium onion, finely diced God gave us the sun to grow onions.
  • 2 celery stalks (reserve tender leaves) trimmed, quartered lengthwise, then sliced into 1/4-inch pieces God gave us the rain to water the Earth that produces celery
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour  God gave us the farmer that grew the wheat for flour
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable stock God saved the chickens via Noah from the flood.
  • 2 (10-ounce) cans chopped clams in juice God filled the oceans with clams and other delicious items.
  • 1 cup heavy cream God again made the cows that gave us the milk.
  • 2 bay leaves God knew what Bay leaves would go good with.
  • 1 pound Idaho potatoes, cut into 1/2- inch cubes God gave us potatoes
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper Seasoning reminds me of a parable and Jesus.

Pan Toasted Croutons:

Directions

Heat the butter in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the onion and celery and saute until softened, mixing often. Stir in the flour to distribute evenly. Add the stock, juice from 2 cans of chopped clams (reserve clams), cream, bay leaves, and potatoes and stir to combine. Bring to a simmer, stirring consistently (the mixture will thicken), then reduce the heat to medium-low and cook 20 minutes, stirring often, until the potatoes are nice and tender. Then add clams and season to taste with salt and pepper, cook until clams are just firm, another 2 minutes.

For the Pan Toasted Croutons:

Melt the butter in a large skillet and toss the bread cubes in the butter until browned and toasted, about 2 to 3 minutes. Add parsley and season with salt and pepper.

Happy Friday. Enjoy something God gave you.

Love ya

Gun Control 1/17/2013

Good morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wake up and smell the coffee. Mine is Door County Cherry Creme.

Once again after a senseless tragedy, and I do mean a tragic loss of young lives in Connecticut, the United States is calling for major gun controls. I have wept for these children and families and rightly so. But wake up America there are tragic losses each day that could be stopped without gun control and many do not care.

Deuteronomy 6:5-9
5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates.

On that note!

Exodus 20:13  Thou shalt not kill.

Since 1973 over 50,000,000 abortions were committed in the United States. I regard life as sacred and so does God. Each night men and women are murdered on the streets. Babies murdered in clinics. We have lost the respect for life and it started a long time ago with Roe V Wade.
Deuteronomy 6:5-9 is the God version of a job description for parents. This all started with us losing God's vision for life and family many years ago. Let's put the emphasis on God, and family. Then people may have the respect for life and it's people that pull the trigger or not. God is the solution not gun control. God saves families. God teaches right and wrong. God loves us and sent His son Jesus Christ to die for our sins. It's time to get back to the One and Only who loves us.

Back to God!!!
God bless,
Marty

Annual Physicals 1/16/2013

Good morning.
May your coffee be hot and your day full of sunshine. My coffee this morning is Door County Jingle Bell Java.

Well 2013 and time to make the appointment for my annual health physical came and went already. I paid my doctor and his main advice was that I am fat and out of shape, All kidding aside I need to get going on my health! But just as much as we should get an annual physical and listen to the doctor we should from time to time get a spiritual check up.

Psalm 139:23-24
23Search me, O God, and know my heart;

test me and know my anxious thoughts.

24See if there is any wicked way in me,

and lead me in the way everlasting.
Are you willing to let God take a look into your heart and show you what He sees?
Then are you willing to listen and change your lifestyle?
Change the way you look at others?
Get involved in ministry at your church serving others?
Make Jesus your Lord and Savior?
The Doctor is in and is waiting to hear from you.
God bless,
Marty

God is Good 1-14-13

Good morning.
Just bought a new supply of Door County Cherry Creme Coffee this weekend. I hope you are all well.

God is good. I base all of my theology on the 66 books found with the Bible. I believe in all 66 books as the true word of God.

2 Timothy 3:16
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

So as listed above I go to God's word for advice and hope. "Instruction". So when I need reassurance or guidance I believe I will find it in the Word and listening in prayer.

Matthew 4:4
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.

What a great God who has given us a written word to live by, hope by, instruct by, correct and be corrected by. God is good.

Psalm 100:5
For the LORD is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.

God is good!
How do I know? I have witnessed His goodness to me and the Bible tells me so.

Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Have a wonderful day. God loves you.

Verses for Comfort 1/13/2013

Good Morning!!!!

Let's find the good in "Good Morning today. It is Sunday and we are to go to church and rest. Remember God rested on the seventh day. I am enjoying a big cup of Door County White Christmas Coffee this morning in one of my favorite cups?

Favorite cup??? Do you have a glass or cup that you seem to gravitate to or always use? I have a couple. They both involve dogs, birds, family members and hunting. They (imagination only) seem to be bigger and warmer for some reason. You can have pictures attached to coffee cups now. If you have a favorite cup send a comment and describe it.

Reason? They bring back fond memories. They are a lot like God in that way. If you go back and recall any blessing or anytime God gave you comfort it just makes you want to go to Him again. And God enjoys time with His children. Below you will find some verses relating to comfort and time spent with God. One of them might be just for you. Have a great day!!

James 4:8
Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.

1 Peter 5:7
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Deuteronomy 3:22
Do not be afraid of them; the LORD your God himself will fight for you

Deuteronomy 31:8
The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
 Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.

Psalm 23:4
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Psalm 119:105
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Matthew 28:30
Teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Furnace Troubles 1/11-13

Good morning,

My coffee cup is filled with Door County Candy Cane this morning.

In my part of the country a furnace is a necessity in the winter. A fireplace is always nice if you are blessed to have one of those also.

A furnace can warm your home and keep the family healthy. But a furnace can also be dangerous. In the Unites States many home fires are caused from broken furnaces, or items kept to close to the heat source. Today we will see that three guys got themselves into a hot spot but trusted God to see them through. God was and will always be victorious.

. Spurgeon observed that God's people are often in the furnace, and though there are different kinds of furnaces they serve similar purposes in our life
· There is the furnace that men prepare (our own sin)
· There is the furnace that Satan prepares (evil itself tries to trap us and discourage us)
· There is the furnace that God prepares ( refines us and makes us stronger)

Our own furnace is usually kindled by greed, lust, anger, self centeredness, lying, cheating and stealing. If this is where you are today, get out of that one.

Satan's furnace is one that that needs to be avoided at all cost. Once Satan has us discouraged we tend to jump into our own furnace and get a double roast. This is not good.

New International Version (NIV)

The Image of Gold and the Blazing Furnace

3 King Nebuchadnezzar made an image of gold, sixty cubits high and six cubits wide, and set it up on the plain of Dura in the province of Babylon. 2 He then summoned the satraps, prefects, governors, advisers, treasurers, judges, magistrates and all the other provincial officials to come to the dedication of the image he had set up. 3 So the satraps, prefects, governors, advisers, treasurers, judges, magistrates and all the other provincial officials assembled for the dedication of the image that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up, and they stood before it.
4 Then the herald loudly proclaimed, “Nations and peoples of every language, this is what you are commanded to do: 5 As soon as you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music, you must fall down and worship the image of gold that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up. 6 Whoever does not fall down and worship will immediately be thrown into a blazing furnace.”
7 Therefore, as soon as they heard the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp and all kinds of music, all the nations and peoples of every language fell down and worshiped the image of gold that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up.
8 At this time some astrologers came forward and denounced the Jews. 9 They said to King Nebuchadnezzar, “May the king live forever! 10 Your Majesty has issued a decree that everyone who hears the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music must fall down and worship the image of gold, 11 and that whoever does not fall down and worship will be thrown into a blazing furnace. 12 But there are some Jews whom you have set over the affairs of the province of Babylon—Shadrach, Misha and Abednego—who pay no attention to you, Your Majesty. They neither serve your gods nor worship the image of gold you have set up.”
13 Furious with rage, Nebuchadnezzar summoned Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. So these men were brought before the king, 14 and Nebuchadnezzar said to them, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the image of gold I have set up? 15 Now when you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music, if you are ready to fall down and worship the image I made, very good. But if you do not worship it, you will be thrown immediately into a blazing furnace. Then what god will be able to rescue you from my hand?”
16 Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to him, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. 18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.
19 Then Nebuchadnezzar was furious with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and his attitude toward them changed. He ordered the furnace heated seven times hotter than usual 20 and commanded some of the strongest soldiers in his army to tie up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego and throw them into the blazing furnace. 21 So these men, wearing their robes, trousers, turbans and other clothes, were bound and thrown into the blazing furnace. 22 The king’s command was so urgent and the furnace so hot that the flames of the fire killed the soldiers who took up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, 23 and these three men, firmly tied, fell into the blazing furnace.
24 Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, “Weren’t there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?”
They replied, “Certainly, Your Majesty.”
25 He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.”
26 Nebuchadnezzar then approached the opening of the blazing furnace and shouted, “Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out! Come here!”
So Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came out of the fire, 27 and the satraps, prefects, governors and royal advisers crowded around them. They saw that the fire had not harmed their bodies, nor was a hair of their heads singed; their robes were not scorched, and there was no smell of fire on them.
28 Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel  and rescued  his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God. 29 Therefore I decree  that the people of any nation or language who say anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego be cut into pieces and their houses be turned into piles of rubble, for no other god can save in this way.”
30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the province of Babylon.

This furnace was first a choice by our three heroes. What would you have chosen?
This furnace was produced by evil and they endured. And they trusted God.
This furnace refined and rewarded. Are you in the furnace today. Will it warm you or hurt you or will you trust God to use it to refine you?

God bless,
Marty

Daniel Part two 1/10/2013

Good morning,
My coffee today is Door County Jingle Bell Java.

Here is part two of the message on Daniel in the lions den. I have attached some of the scripture from yesterday. You can obtain part one from www.martyschutte.blogspot.com in case you missed.

Thought. You see that Daniel's relationship to God was so important that even the real threat of an ugly death could not keep him from prayer. Even the king watched how Daniel reacted. What a witness to the King on Daniel's devotion to God, God's power and God's faithfulness.
What would it take you to break before men and give God the short straw?

The answer is between you and God.

Daniel in the Den of Lions

6 [a]It pleased Darius(A) to appoint 120 satraps(B) to rule throughout the kingdom, 2 with three administrators over them, one of whom was Daniel.(C) The satraps were made accountable(D) to them so that the king might not suffer loss. 3 Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom.(E) 4 At this, the administrators and the satraps tried to find grounds for charges(F) against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs, but they were unable to do so. They could find no corruption in him, because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent. 5 Finally these men said, “We will never find any basis for charges against this man Daniel unless it has something to do with the law of his God.”(G)

6 So these administrators and satraps went as a group to the king and said: “May King Darius live forever!(H) 7 The royal administrators, prefects, satraps, advisers and governors(I) have all agreed that the king should issue an edict and enforce the decree that anyone who prays to any god or human being during the next thirty days, except to you, Your Majesty, shall be thrown into the lions’ den.(J) 8 Now, Your Majesty, issue the decree and put it in writing so that it cannot be altered—in accordance with the law of the Medes and Persians, which cannot be repealed.”(K) 9 So King Darius put the decree in writing.

10 Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward(L) Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees(M) and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.(N) 11 Then these men went as a group and found Daniel praying and asking God for help.(O) 12 So they went to the king and spoke to him about his royal decree: “Did you not publish a decree that during the next thirty days anyone who prays to any god or human being except to you, Your Majesty, would be thrown into the lions’ den?”
The king answered, “The decree stands—in accordance with the law of the Medes and Persians, which cannot be repealed.”(P)

13 Then they said to the king, “Daniel, who is one of the exiles from Judah,(Q) pays no attention(R) to you, Your Majesty, or to the decree you put in writing. He still prays three times a day.” 14 When the king heard this, he was greatly distressed;(S) he was determined to rescue Daniel and made every effort until sundown to save him.

15 Then the men went as a group to King Darius and said to him, “Remember, Your Majesty, that according to the law of the Medes and Persians no decree or edict that the king issues can be changed.”(T)

16 So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions’ den.(U) The king said to Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue(V) you!”

17 A stone was brought and placed over the mouth of the den, and the king sealed(W) it with his own signet ring and with the rings of his nobles, so that Daniel’s situation might not be changed. 18 Then the king returned to his palace and spent the night without eating(X) and without any entertainment being brought to him. And he could not sleep.(Y)

19 At the first light of dawn, the king got up and hurried to the lions’ den. 20 When he came near the den, he called to Daniel in an anguished voice, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to rescue you from the lions?”(Z)

21 Daniel answered, “May the king live forever!(AA) 22 My God sent his angel,(AB) and he shut the mouths of the lions.(AC) They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight.(AD) Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, Your Majesty.”

23 The king was overjoyed and gave orders to lift Daniel out of the den. And when Daniel was lifted from the den, no wound(AE) was found on him, because he had trusted(AF) in his God.

The Lions Den a 2 Part series 1/9/13 Part 1

Good morning,

Filled my cup with Door County White Christmas coffee today. Trying to use up the winter supply and awaiting the Spring flavors.
Dear Friends once again God has laid it upon my heart to do a short series. Below you will find the Scripture from Daniel 6 and the account of Daniel in the Lions Den.

We will learn from the Scripture a few items. I have highlighted the Scripture to match my thoughts.
1. Nothing about Daniel pointed to him as having any charges brought up against him. The other administrators and satraps had to fabricate charges.
2. The king followed ungodly advice from self centered advisors.
3. Daniel feared God and not men. His relationship with God was more important than his position
4. The King was sympathetic but unable to help.
5. Only God was able to spare Daniel from the lion. Note God did not spare Daniel from the lions den but spared him from the lion.

You see the King could have spared Daniel and the King would have received glory and Daniel's praise and thanks. But only God accomplished what Daniel nor the King could. He shut the mouth of the lion. You might be in the den and God knows it today. Trust him as Daniel did even though he faced sure death and see what God has planned. Only He knows what He is going to do. But trust Him that He loves us so much that He knows what is best for us.

Good Morning,

Today is starting with oatmeal and a cup of Door County White Christmas Coffee.

We have pills for just about everything now. Blood pressure, Diabetes, Acne, Colds, Weight, you name it we can get it. But to be honest there isn't any medication for stress. Oh you can take a pill to calm you down, another to sleep, and another to wake up. But nothing you can buy can help like God can. Do you need a heavy dose of Stress GOSPILLS?

I'll let God's words do the speaking today. I hope this helps. I really need to overdose on these!!!

1. John 14:1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me.”
2. John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
3. Isaiah 40: 30,31 “Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
4. Romans 16:20 “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.”
5. Philippians 4:6,7. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
6. 1 Peter 5: 6,7 “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
7. Psalm 103: 1-5 “Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits – who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”
8. Psalm 100 “Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.”
9. Proverbs 16:3 “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.”
10. Proverbs 16:9 ”In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.”
11. Jeremiah 17: 7,8. “But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water and sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”
12. James 1: 2-4 “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
13. Matthew 11: 28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
14. Deuteronomy 33:27 “The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.”
15. Psalm 9: 9,10 “The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.”
16. Psalm 16: 8 ”I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”
17. Psalm 46: 1-3 “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and mountains quake and with their surging.”
18. Psalm 36: 3-6 “Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this; He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.”
19. Proverbs 3:5,6. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”
20. Matthew 6:25-27 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?”

Good Night For Prayer 1/7/2013

Good evening,
My coffee pot is already set for tomorrow.
This past Saturday our church sponsored a prayer night from 8:00 PM until 4:00 AM. We try to do this every other month. Attendance has started to pick up and we had over twenty people for the long haul. It did end at 1:30 AM  I have seen it go past 4:00 AM
You might ask why we do this.

And it was at this time that He went off to the mountain to pray, and He spent the whole night in prayer to God. ( Luke 6:12)

Jesus often slipped away in prayer for himself and others. He wanted to spend time with the God. He needed to be in tune with the Father.

At church some of us looked over the prayer requests sent in by others.
Cancer topped the list. Our prayer list was a page and a half. We prayed in unity for all the requests.

Then Sunday I read the local paper. Another shooting, another politician was accused of a crime, another drunken driver crash. Need I say more. Folks, as a nation we face fiscal cliffs, health care reforms, job losses, and danger. Can you bend down get on your knees and pray? Jesus did.
