No White Christmas Here 12/22/2025

 Good Morning,

I am enjoying a hot cup of Door County White Christmas Coffee and it is time to write.

I really enjoy an old Christmas tune who many artists have sung. But for me Bing Crosby had the best rendition of "White Christmas" In July my mind starts turning to winter and I start dreaming and wishing for a white Christmas.

Matthew 6:33 ESV But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you,

Luke 12:34 ESV For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

I listened to the weather forecast for this week and it doesn't look like we will have snow in our part of the world for Christmas. That would be a big miracle. My wife the "ever optimist" said to me. "Think about those who will be traveling to visit others on Christmas. They don't need slippery roads. And you would just have to shovel the snow and still have many other things to do on Christmas Day."

My wife hasn't comprehended that every now and then I like to whine and complain. Nothing personal to those who relish warm climates. I am happy for you. But in our part of the world yesterday I froze myself in 10 degree weather. I pleaded like a kid in the candy factory, who can't have what he wants because of his last dental exam. Cold weather, but no snow.

I prayed at dinner and asked for snow, and then my wife edited my prayer and said. "You didn't say how much you wanted, or how cold it should be to preserve your precious snow. Be careful what you pray for."

So another year without Christmas snow will come and go, So I need to be content with being around for another Christmas. I need to remember that what will be, will be, and then Rene said. "Would you rather have rain in October for duck hunting, or snow in December? You can't have everything your way."

I went to my den, my tail between my legs, and sat down with God and said, "Thank You For Christmas" I just needed help in seeing and setting  my priorities.

What is one priority that should not be a priority, or a deal breaker? Is it worth praying for? Could our prayers be less stingy and self centered?

Food for thought,

Marty
