Good Morning,
I am very late in writing today. I had a late night commitment last night and just needed a little more sleep before I tackle this day. I have a hot cup Door County Mistletoe Mocha Coffee next to me and it is time to write.
Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace, as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
One of our nephews very often has to travel for work and we are then blessed to be able to have his dog stay with us. That little dog is named Waylon. He as well as our two dogs Gibbs and Leo are English Springer Spaniels. What that means is that we increase the energy level in our home while Waylon visits by one third.
When Waylon first started visiting us for extended periods, He was vey leery of the other two especially the oldest one Gibbs who can be a little cranky now in his older years.
My wife Rene and I have watched the progress over time, and Waylon is now just part of the family. He gets in line to be fed and I rotate which dish I place on the floor and who gets theirs's first. All three wait patiently and then when they are done eating they usually go outside together. They wait for all three to go outside as a band of three. Rene is by far the favorite adult of all three. When she says, " come on boys" all three come running to her. Gibbs is deaf now and he follows the other two to her side.
We both remarked last night that they are the best kind of kin. They care for one another, share what they have and they show they care by being polite.
But their caring and sharing is not just at Christmas time. They are in Christmas mode 365 days a year. If they were humans they would show up more than once a year to work (volunteer) at the homeless shelter, food pantry, hospitals, and other places where someone needs encouragement, a hand up, or a meal.
Gibbs has been known to bring home stray dogs. Once when Rene opened the door, in came a miniature Collie and she stayed with us until the owner was found. Gibbs looked at Rene and it was if he was showing her his new friend. The next time he brought home a guest is was a big black lab.
So my friends, for our dogs, every day is like Christmas. If it is for our dogs, why can't every day be like Christmas for us?
Food for thought. Share and care more than once a year.
Marty
