Good Morning,
I am enjoying my very hot cup of Door County Mistletoe Mocha Coffee and it is time to write.
Last night after our dinner was finished. I let my wife Rene know that I would be in our garage arranging some of my goose hunting equipment and making repairs to a dog concealment blind. She asked me how long my time in the garage would be and if I needed any help.
Ephesians 5:21 NKJV Submitting to one another in the fear of God.
That did not surprise me, because we often are in our garage even in the winter. We are already prepping some of the garden decorations for next year. I told her that I wasn't sure as to how long the repairs might take, but at the most it would probably take two hours.
After I was out there for one hour I heard the door open from the house to the garage. It was Rene with a hot cup of decaf coffee for me. She admitted that she was checking on me, to make sure the ladder was upright and I was still standing. As I get older my wife gets more cautious with my life. Before I knew it she had her coat on and started helping me remove a few things from the garage rafters. I went to move a piece of equipment into the bed of my truck and there she was grabbing one end of it.
I thanked her for the help and chased her into the warm house. I also went into the house for the night after about another 20 minutes,
After further thought I decided that the best thing I can do from now on is to check in now and then and if I am walking I must be ok. At first I thought that this is one big inconvenience for me. But if it gives Rene peace of mind I probably need to respect her worries and caring attitude.
My point for the day is this. It is ok to check in now and then. It should be expected that as we age new concerns evolve that weren't there 20 years ago. So as we approach Christmas little nuances that weren't here last year are here now. I need to see the blessing in this. I have a wife who cares and loves me and I need to reduce her worries.
Have a great day!
Marty
