Lasagna For Nancy 6/13/2025

 Good Morning,

The Door County Brandy Alexander Coffee is tasting good and is also warming me up. It is a little bit on the cold side this morning.

Philippians 2:3-4 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit , but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

I will be working on a little project today. I will be making some pans of lasagna to take to our church tomorrow morning. It is customary at our church, when a church member passes away, the church as a whole produces some type of luncheon after the funeral service, especially if the service is held at the church.

One of our friends passed away last week and her celebration of life takes place tomorrow. I visited with her and her husband before she passed away and she asked that in her honor, would we make lasagna for the mourners to eat and to use her recipe? To me, it was a simple request and after she passed we confirmed her request with her husband and after one phone call we had a team assembling to produce a large amount of lasagna, garlic bread, and salad.

Nancy will never see the lasagna, but her family will. One of her last requests was to have them fed with her recipe in remembrance of her. But it just shows a heart that right up to the end placed her family first. In her death I saw her heart and it was not a selfish heart and as a wife and mother she taught her family one last time to love one another.

I wonder if that could be said about us? Does our family come first? Do we count others as more important than us? Would one of our last thoughts be to comfort our family on our passing?

Food for thought. And pass the lasagna.

God bless, Marty
