Good Morning,
As was predicted, the weather changed in Wisconsin and the coffee needs to be hotter today with these colder temperatures. So my cup is filled with Door County Caramel Apple Coffee and I am headed off to work.
1 Corinthians 10:13New King James Version (NKJV)
13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
I don't know about you but I will admit that different temptations come my way all the time. I am sure we can all say that. Did you know that when you were a baby and then grew older and began to speak, that one of the first words you mastered was one key way to defeat temptation?
That first battle implement in defeating temptations was the word NO.
As a little child when we did not want to do something we just said no, threw a fit and most of the time our parents gave in and we did not have to do it. The problem now is that when Satan sends a temptation our way we refuse to throw a temper tantrum scream no and walk away. We stick around and try to do battle with the temptation thinking we can be near it and not fall to the trap.
As Scripture says, God provides a way out of every temptation. Sometimes the way out is by just not going near it. Staying away is always the best way. Saying no out loud and walking away is also a way that God shows us how to defeat temptation.
Share what you are tempted with to another person you trust. They might also be tempted with the same things. Ask when you are tempted if it would be ok for you to call them and pray together. Accountability is a great way to overcome temptation.
Also memorize Scriptures that you can recall during temptations. Jesus did this during His temptation by Satan. He fought off the devil with Scripture.
Psalm 119:11King James Version (KJV)
11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Now when they pass the bakery plate, just one doughnut. Having two is a temptation you just gave into.
God bless,
Marty
