A New Coat of Paint 9/4/2014

Good Morning.

I have started today with a large mug of Door County German Chocolate Cake Coffee. I filled a small thermos with the coffee for later this morning at work. One has to be good to himself once in awhile.

Last night I started the process to change colors on my duck boat. I was told that if I want to be successful on a hunt to North Dakota I would need more green in my boat color. You can see the difference from the old to the new. The bottom picture is not complete yet but the boat looks entirely different.

The boat will help us to conceal ourselves better and then lure the ducks in for a closer shot. This is fatal to the ducks.

Life often presents things that look good but can deliver a devastating blow to us, our families or our churches. Sin often disguises itself as good, but is lethal to the believer. Many a person has fallen to the sin of gossip in the name of wanting to help someone. It often starts by betraying a confidence like this, "did you know this about him or her? You might want to stay away from them." This gossip might even be true, but what did we accomplish by spreading the bad news? Does the other person ever get a break that way?

These juicy tidbits of news just lead the believer into the world's trap of sin. Just like this boat will help to fill my freezer with fowl.

Many a feud has started by repeating what others have said.
One of the things that can destroy any church or ministry is gossip. Other terms in the Bible for gossip include:  backbiter, busybody, slanderer, secrets, talebearer and whisperers.  So then, a Biblical definition of gossip would be to spread rumors or secrets, speak about someone maliciously behind their back or repeat something about someone else that you have no right to repeat. My wife often says “If you aren’t part of the problem or the solution, its gossip”. Let’s take a look at how the Bible warns and teaches us about this destructive behavior known as gossip.

Proverbs 16:28 A dishonest man spreads strife, and a whisperer separates close friends.

Secrets and Gossip!!!!!!!!!!

Leviticus 19:16 You shall not go around as a slanderer among your people, and you shall not stand up against the life of your neighbor: I am the LORD.

Proverbs 11:13 Whoever goes about slandering reveals secrets, but he who is trustworthy in spirit keeps a thing covered.

Be careful out there! What you say today just might come back to you with a vengeance!

Have a great Thursday.

Marty
