Good Morning,
Door County German Chocolate Cake Coffee filled my cup this morning and it is time to write.
One of the character traits my dad owned is the one where you are always on time and if you weren't ten minutes early for your appointment with him "You were late".
Ephesians 5:15-16 NIV Be very careful, then, how you live, not as unwise but wise. 16. Making the most of every opportunity , because the days are evil.
He planned being on time and it started the day before. His clothing to be worn was laid out the day before. The alarm clock was always set to give him ample time to shower, drink coffee. eat a little breakfast and travel if necessary. He would arrive on time every time. Unless he was ill, he was always the first one to rise up from the bed and most always the first to lay down for the night. He always said, "a man who shows up late without a good excuse, is a man who just showed you how he feels about you. A person feels more important when he sees just how much you respect his time,"
That character trait rubbed off on me and being late bugs me to no end and waiting for others to show up on time irritates me like you can't imagine.
Mother taught us to be polite and some how she incorporated being prompt into her lessons on manners. "We are to respect others and treat them the way we want to be treated. Being on time shows respect for others and sets the tone for a relationship built on "good manners".
Food for thought!
Marty
