Good Morning,
There is a hot cup of Door County White Christmas Coffee warming me up this morning and it is time to write.
Psalm 139:23-24 NKJV Search me, O God, and know my heart. Try me and know my anxieties; 24. And see if there is any wicked way in me. And lead me in the way everlasting.
My doctor will always ask me if I am getting enough exercise and if I feel safe in my home. I find that asking me if I am safe in my home when I am sitting right in front of her breathing and walking on my own two feet seems silly to me. But I suppose that could encompass a myriad of situations or conditions.
This last year found me fighting off Covid and then needing some testing done on my heart and lungs. I was having some pain and breathing issues due to that nasty virus. Fortunately for me, all is well on that front and I am doing much better now. I guess it is best to know what is going on in that heart of ours and be proactive on a medical response.
I believe we should also do a scan of our hearts in the spiritual sense now and then and see if we are doing things that are offensive to God and what we are harboring within. Bitterness, anger, unchecked moral collapses, or even the slightest dishonesty are "Heart Conditions" that restrict the flow of kindness, compassion, civil responses, and failures to treat others as we would like to be treated.
If you would like to be shown the spiritual condition of your heart, Just Ask God to show you. Ask only if you are serious about making changes to and treating the infections within your own hearts. Your heart scan is yours and yours alone. Your mouth is usually reflective of what resides in a heart that hasn't had a clean sweep in some time. You might be surprised to find some serious attitudes and behaviors, offensive to God have clouded your speech and behaviors in a major way. Take the scan and see how you stack up in the eyes of God. Listen to what comes out of your mouth. Then do something about it.
Food for thought.
Marty
