Good Morning,
I am enjoying a Friday Cup Of Door County Christmas Coffee and it is time to write.
We have a lot going on in our home right now, from some house repairs, a roof that needs replacing, some health issues, and the usual busyness that surrounds my wife Rene and I.
I called for a time out and asked Rene to join me for a short time of prayer yesterday.
Proverbs 18:15 An intelligent heart acquires knowledge and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.
Once we finished praying I called our impromptu meeting to order. I had a sheet of paper with all the things we are doing listed and I started on the items in my control, which includes finding new insurance coverage for our home, autos, and boat. I walked Rene through my entire list. I updated her as to where we are in the process of roofing and insurances. I also included the why's of my reasoning for making the changes I made. I explained that I hadn't signed a contract yet, so Rene could make changes if we needed to. Rene then updated me on all the appointments she makes and keeps for us.
My point for the day is this. A well informed spouse is a spouse that can stand in the gap for each other. A marriage is like a well synchronized waltz and when a dance is out of step you can see it and the flaw stands out. In a dance, a wrong step is seen and noticed but can't be made right. The mistake was made and the consequences are there for life. You can however not make the mistake again.
It is important to keep a marriage in step. It all starts with keeping God as the head of the marriage and praying together starts that dance off on the right foot and keeps it that way. Next putting each other first and being unselfish coordinates the love and willingness to share information. I always say that the best impression of a man is how well his family survives his passing. Were they equipped with all they needed to know to carry on?
My friends, life is a dance and a dance is most beautiful when it is in step. Even when the music of life isn't too good, the marriage can dance and bend to the tune without breaking.
Marty
