The Day After Christmas Gift Return12/26/2012

Good Morning,

The day after Christmas and my Coffee cup is filled once again with Door County Jingle Bell Java.

My family and I had a nice day yesterday. We were able to visit with other family members and enjoy some food as well.

On Christmas many families enjoy giving each other gifts. I have been blessed to receive gifts throughout the years. But every now and then I would receive a gift that made me wonder "what were they thinking? I will never use that?" I am sure many of you have received at least one of those in your life time. In the United States the day after Christmas finds the stores packed with people returning gifts for many reasons. Too big, too small, already have one, don't like it, wanted something else. The return lines are very long. I have had to return a gift or two.

I thought about  how being in a line to return a gift could apply to God.

Ephesians 2:8-9

New King James Version (NKJV)
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Christmas was God's gift to us. Jesus came to Earth as a baby, grew to be a man, suffered and died on the cross, was buried and rose from the grave that whosoever called upon His name might be saved, forgiven and have eternal life in heaven.

John 3:16

New King James Version (NKJV)

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

God's gift to us is salvation through Jesus Christ. We cannot buy it with a gift card, can't exchange it for something else, can't be earned through good works, it is a gift given by God.
Jesus paid the price with his death, burial and resurrection.
Best of all it can fit everyone, can't be repossessed, can't be lost, can't break, and never wears out. It is the only gift that will never require returning. Pass the word the best deal is in heaven and there aren't any lines.

God bless,
Marty
