Good Morning,
My day began a little bit ago and It started with a big cup of Door County Peanut Butter Cup Coffee.
John 6:12 ESV And when they had eaten their fill , he told his disciples, "gather up the leftover fragments , that nothing may be lost."
My grandparents lived through the Great Depression of 1929 and as kid I heard them refer back to it many times. My grandmother would refer to it when she made a soup she called a "Depression Special". Every thing in that soup came from her vegetable garden. And believe me when I say it was a great tasting broth. To make it have some consistency she added noodles which were made by hand. They never wasted a thing. They weren't hoarders, but anything they owned had a purpose and was used.
I think they rubbed off on me because I married a frugal gal, and we make use of things and repurpose stuff if we can. If it can be used, it is used or made into a useable conversation piece.
Recently I found a handle to an antique faucet. I also had an antique fork from Grandmas kitchen. The handle was ruined with age. Apart from each other they were totally useless. But together they made a great fork and definitely a conversation piece.
My point for the day is not to clutter your home with antiques like a certain couple we know does. But being frugal means the leftovers get eaten, not tossed. A small leftover chunk of beef roast can be eaten in a salad. Left over potatoes get fried with some eggs for breakfast.
Waste not want not.
Have a great day!
Marty
