The Ultimate Perfectionist 11/15/2018

Good Morning,

It's time to write and head on down the road to work. My day began early and will run late today. I  filled my Thermos Bottle with Door County Maple Coffee a few minutes ago. I am ready to embrace the day.

Perfectionist are driven people and are welcome on any one of my work teams anytime. They see every detail through to the end. But being driven often causes them to overwork. The drive to be perfect takes them on long hours. Often overworked and being under appreciated leads to exhaustion or depression.

God is the Ultimate Perfectionist. When I look at a Monarch Butterfly or hear a baby cry I see the work of the Perfectionist. He does everything with drive and love. The Great perfectionist also knows His human creations and He designed rest. Go knows what is best for us. If God prescribes rest, then,it must be perfect for us. Geese are driven to go South for the winter. But they stop to eat and rest. Very often they are just ahead of a snowstorm. Yet God built them to rest too.

Genesis 2:2-3 New International Version (NIV)
By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

Jesus had a short time to accomplish His mission and grow the future leaders of the New testament Church. He had to do this knowing a death sentence awaited Him. Jesus was driven, yet He prescribed rest for His followers. Jesus died that we might be made perfect in God's eyes. He finished His mission and did it one time and one time only in a perfect way.

Mark 6:31 New International Version (NIV)
31 Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”

Two Perfectionists both prescribe rest for us. If your drive to accomplish too much in one day or being driven has you beat. REST. God knows what we need. It is time to listen.

If this is you. Slow down enough to rest.

Marty
