Composure Is Power? 7/11/2017

Good Morning,

I am wide awake today and my plate of life is a full one. It should run a little late into the evening. So a little extra Door County Blueberry Cobbler Coffee this morning won't hurt a thing.

Romans 12:17-21New International Version (NIV)
17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”[says the Lord. 20 On the contrary:
“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
    if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”
21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

There are days, encounters, meetings, family dinners or possible seasons when to be still actually demands more immense strength than to act does. Composure is known to be the highest evidence of strength. I have often said that I believed the biggest temptation Jesus endured were the insults hurled at Him while He was on the cross. He was insulted and mocked which in reality, they were mocking God the Father. This took great restraint to be silent and not come down off of the cross and open up a whole lot of disaster on those vile mouths. Jesus showed great restraint when dealing with the village idiots.

You and I are all stronger than we look, and it takes great restraint to deal with some people now and then. We show great strength when we choose silence over war, and when we do not seek revenge. Someone will be the "village idiot" you encounter today. You can show strength by not allowing them to get under your skin. Pray for them, and let God deal with them. You will know when they are not teachable and are just argumentative. Don't let evil convince you to deliver evil. Show great strength and the power of the Holy Spirit within you to resist setting down your cross and whooping some butt. You can do it.

Philippians 4:13New International Version (NIV)
13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

Be the "power house" God intends you to be. Shut down the cannons fired at you with composure.

Marty
