A Sunday Kind Of Day 3/22/2026

 Good Morning,

I am deinking a hoy cup of Door County Mistletoe Mocha Coffee. I am using up some of the last of my supply of Christmas flavors. It is time to write.

Philippians 4:11 ESV Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned , in whatever situation I am, to be content.

I woke up to a feeling of not being too ambitious today. I am working at reading a couple of books to see if they would be good ones for our Men's Bible Study at our church. So later today I plan on sitting at my desk and reading for a couple of hours. Rene and I discussed what we would eat today and that has already been supplied to us by a dear friend as a gift.

I believe I will take advantage of a light day. I have built in some time for extra prayer and I think as far as it goes, I was made for this day or this day was made for me. I plan on working, resting, and  growing spiritually all in one day.

My point for the day is this. God made this day, and I am doing my best to fit into it and be content.

How about you? Does the word content describe you?

God bless,

Marty

Stopped For Prayer 3/21/2026

 Good Morning,

I woke up and realized that I had not set the timer on the coffee maker. It did not slow me down too much, but it is something I don't want to become a habit. I like my coffee very hot and on time. Soon I will be drinking a hot cup of Door County Blueberry Cobbler Coffee as I begin to write.

Romans 12:12ESV
Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

Yesterday while picking up some supplies at a farm store, I was stopped by a young couple in the parking lot. At first I thought they were selling something. They assured me that their only goal for the day was to pray with people. I can't say that this approach is new to me. I have seen this ministry in public areas before. Politely they asked for my name and if there was anything they could pray about for me. I chuckled and said that I could hand them a laundry list of things, but I confided that I wanted prayer for our country, the war and the politics. We bowed our heads and we prayed. Once they finished praying I asked if there was anything I could pray about for them. They were happy to announce that they were just married a few months ago and they are now headed on a medical mission trip to Africa. Both of them are nurses and they will be assisting a surgical team for 6 months. They desired prayer for safety and for God to eliminate the worries their families have about them going so far away.

After praying we hugged and I went on my way, they went to pray with others. Before we prayed I asked them how the praying was going. The response was this. "Many people don't want prayer or are too busy to stop and pray."

This answer did not surprise me much. I often see our monthly church prayer gathering barely being attended. It seems that even times of turmoil aren't bringing people to their knees as much as I thought would happen now.

So my point is this. When you pray, stay a few minutes longer on your knees and include prayer for those folks "who don't need any." Pray as the Holy Spirit leads you.

God is waiting to hear from you.

Marty.

Sitting At The Window 3/20/2026

 Good Morning,

I am waiting for the Door County Peanut Butter Crunch Coffee to finish brewing. It is time to write.

It is still dark outside as I ponder things as they wake up and have me observing some of the antics at the bird feeder. Right now there is a squirrel cleaning up some of the bird seed that was spilled out by some small birds yesterday. Two rabbits are chewing some of the wet grass in the yard. All this action and more yet to come just because we spent a little money on wild bird seed and now enjoy a morning cartoon provided by nature. Our bird feeder and pole are nothing fancy, yet they feed one and all who come to the it. I especially think it is odd how the bigger birds who can't perch on the feeder have to wait for the tiny birds to spray the seed to those below with their little wings. The larger birds rely on being fed by the little ones.

1 Samuel 16:7 But the Lord said to Samuel, "Do not look on the appearance or the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees; Man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."

My point for the day is this. You might be in a position to recruit people for a project or hire them for work at your place of employment. Yet the candidates might be a little short on experience. Their resume seems weak. Pray about it and see if they have "Heart, Desire, Determination, Drive and Dedication." Ask questions that would have them answer things regarding the terminology above.

Don't let a lack of a piece of paper or them looking too young to be any good impact your decision. You might have a great worker wrapped in a weak resume and young stature. Don't let that keep you from not trying them out. Of course there are minimum requirements and education needed for most positions. Those must be met, But a lack of experience gives you the opportunity to give them some. You can be part of the process that helps them to build their experience resume.

Be a big bird that watches the younger ones soar. You might learn a trick or two from someone half your age and with half of your experience.

Food for thought,

Marty

I Tried To Think And Nothing Happened 3/19/2026

 Good Morning,

The alarm went off and the Door County Cherry Creme Coffee is ready. Time to write.

Last night I was looking up the name of a restaurant / supper club that my wife and I used to visit a couple times a year or more 30 years ago. I was trying to remember the name and it took me awhile for my brain to kick in. Have you ever tried to kick start your brain and nothing happens?

I finally remembered the name "Ray Busslers" of Oak Creek Wisconsin. I could recall the many times Rene and I enjoyed the antique atmosphere, great food, and located close to home. It was our place to go on "Date Night"

Now and then it takes some time to get the brain functioning and once it starts it can be difficult to shut down. I recalled a passage of Scripture to support my wandering mind trips back in time.

Philippians 4:8 KJV Finally, Brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Just now and then when you have memories like this to cherish, You just have to say, "It has been a wonderful life. "

Take time to enjoy a memory and share it with someone!

God bless. Have a great day!!!

Taking Care Of My Wife 3/18/2026

 Good Morning,

The hot Door County Peanut Butter Crunch Coffee in my cup is just the right temperature to enjoy and it is time to write.

Genesis 2:18. And the Lord said "It is not good for man to be alone"

Over the last couple of days we have endured wind storms, snow storms, cold weather and injuries to our little kingdom. While assisting me with snow removal Monday,  my wife Rene twisted and her knee did not twist with her. Now her knee is swollen and painful. We sought medical attention and now are seeing a specialist this morning. I want to thank those who have been praying for her.

I have been promoted to "Chief Cook, and Bearer of Ice Packs". I learned a little something over the last couple of days. I now know where we purchase our dog food and not to throw out the receipts. You get a free bag after you buy ten bags. I have learned that we have a washing machine. Those things are quite handy. The dish washer is another appliance that does not fill with dishes itself.  In order to keep the lights on the bills have to be paid and then taken to the post office on time. We don't do auto pay or electronic services.

Then I have learned that my wife is not a good patient. She doesn't follow orders. This is most perplexing. She is supposed to stay off of her leg and now I know that she must not understand or be fluent with the English language. I have to articulate all my instructions slowly and use Pig Latin as our language of choice. Yesterday I discovered that freshly washed underwear has a proper way to be folded after leaving another appliance called the clothes dryer. This injury must have also caused her to go back in time and stop right about in her teen years. She has developed the "Look" that I witnessed once or a million times from our daughter. You know "THE LOOK"

We have been blessed to be married for a thousand years and it hurts to see Rene in pain. My prayers for her are constant. I love her to the moon and back and hope this heals soon. But in the meantime she has hidden the mop (I now know we have one.) When I inquired as to where it is, she replied you mean "Waldo" I replied what?  Her reply was "He's on first." You are old if you understand  that one.

I put my Ecclesiastes and King Solomon hat on and pondered my plight as he would do. I just have to say that I Have a great wife and I have been spoiled by her.

Have a blessed day.

Fix Your Face ??? 3/17/2026

 Good Morning,

I just poured a hot cup of Door County Peanut Butter Crunch Coffee and it is time to write.

Proverbs 15:13 NKJV A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance. But by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.

Isaiah 3:9 NIV The look on their faces testifies against them, they parade their sin like Sodom, they do not hide it . Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves.

We often have a dear friend of ours who betrays us and gives away our thoughts to others; That friend is our face. You can almost always tell what a person is thinking by the expression that comes from our faces It is a direct giveaway to our minds and our hearts. Some people wake up with a scowl on their face and condemn the day just by their facial expression. Especially watch the faces of people who when asked their opinion on an idea or suggestion who say "I don't care what we do, I am good." Then watch their facial expression and it contorts in a way that reminds me of a two year old tasting medicine "liquid 1960s penicillin" after being told it is good for them.

I am not suggesting that we lie, but our face is expressing  our attitudes that some times need a fixing. You might say you are fine with something but your face tells the truth.  So plain and simple fix your face by looking into your heart and understanding that the sun rises on you as well as others. Your face might need an attitude adjustment.

Just a little food for thought!

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus 3/16/2026

 Good Morning,

I an sitting at my desk staring at the blizzard outside enjoying the warmth of the house and a hot cup of Door County Chocolate Cherry Coffee. It is time to write.

I call any snow storm in March the "second winter". Well our second winter arrived last night and is supposed to last until late this afternoon. We have every thing we need to stay inside and dig out later today.

Ephesians 5:19 ESV Addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart.

My day began with prayer after my radio alarm woke me up to an old hymn. And I can't get it out of my head.

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

1.O soul are you wearied and troubled?

No light in the darkness you see?

There's light for a look at the Savior.

And life more abundant and Free

Chorus Turn your eyes upon Jesus

Look full in His wonderful face

And things of the earth will grow strangely dim,

In the light of His glory and grace,

2. Through death into life everlasting ,

He passed and we follow him there;

O'er us sin no more hath dominion

For more than conqu'rors we are!

3. His word shall not fail you, He p[romised;

Believe Him and all will be well;

Then go to a world that is dying.

His perfect salvation to tell.

This hymn was written by Helen Howarth Lemmel. It has soothed the heart of many troubled souls since it came to the attention of the public. It is a beloved hymn of the sick, the stressed , the bereaved and all that need rest from our stress filled life on earth.

So may your coffee be hot, your troubles small, and keep a hymn in your heart today.

God bless.

Being Polite Isn't Totally Lost Yet

 Good Morning,

I just poured a hot cup of Door County Highlander Grog Coffee for myself and it is time to write.

Ephesians 4:29 NIV Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, only what is helpful for building up others according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

Last Friday we had some strong winds blow through our state. Once again we had some damage to our home due to the wind storm. I happened to be out and about picking up supplies for a church dinner being held on Saturday. That wind was "rocking". A young lady was in the parking lot of the food emporium trying to gather the shopping carts that had set themselves free to roam the parking lot. It was a losing battle for one person. As one of those runaway carts was headed to smash into the vehicle parked next to me, I was able to grab on to it and give it to the cart gatherer. I was able to fetch a few more with her and help her back into the store.

The young lady was wind blown and a little tired. As I handed off my stack of shopping carts she looked  me straight in the eye and said, "Thank You Sir. Have a great morning despite this storm." I replied "Good Morning  Mam, You are welcome. Have a better day"

As I walked away I recalled some training I received during my work years when I was cautioned not to use the term "Mam" as it could insult some folks.   A cloud of doubt entered my mind. Did I just ruin a good deed by saying Mam?  My thought as I tried to justify my use of the term Mam was this. She called me sir first. I thought her polite greeting could be answered using politeness in return. I did not know the lady's name. Although addressing her by name was not called for. I am sure I was about fifty years older than her so she probably wrote me off as being old fashioned and not knowing better. I will probably make that mistake again and sometimes the way I was raised clobbers me when the world declares a change.  It's a shame when this world even impacts a civil response or greeting. Or makes you stop and think on how to respond so no one gets hurt.  The world has made a lot of changes in etiquette over the last ten years. I don't always roll with the changes so if we meet and I say good morning Mam or Sir just consider me the old goof who just can't change.

Have great day.

Enjoying A Little Down Time This Morning. 3/14/2026

 Good Morning,

I have as my companion this morning a hot cup of Door County Inn Keepers Blend Coffee and it is time to write.

James 4:14 ESV Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.

photo credit simply called food .com

Yesterday I was very busy with arranging storm repairs to our home once again. Our church is having a taco dinner after the service tonight. I cooked the beef for the tacos yesterday as well as some duck, goose, and pheasant meat as a surprise taco filler. Our cheese supply failed us and I had to make a cheese run in the wind storm. I could have done some of this today, but you never know what a day will bring, so it is better off to take advantage of the time allotted.

I received  a call last night from a neighbor who was gifted a recliner from another neighbor. There is one function on the lift type chair that isn't working right now. We promised to look at it in the near future and I guess we will look at it this morning. This neighbor is a right now is the best time kind of guy.

Proverbs 16:3 ESV Commit your work to the Lord and your plans will be established.

Sounds a little like I am complaining. Not really, my point for today is this. God has numbered our days on this earth and He fills them with tasks He wants done and He sets the time frames. So if it looks like the to do list is large it is God who made the list. We should be happy to have a list. The list lets you know that God is thinking about you and you are valued.

Food for thought!

God bless. Marty

The Wind Is Blowing Hard Today 3/13/2026

 Good Morning,

I am sitting at my desk with a hot cup of Door County Sunrise Roast Coffee and it is time to write.

I am late in writing today because of windstorms that are blowing in excess of 60 miles per hour over our house. It isn't hurricane strength or wind like tornadoes but strong enough to let you know to be wary of their strength and very cautious. Earlier I heard something smash against the house and I went out to see what that might be. I was chased back inside pretty quickly by the strength of the gusts. Damage assessment will have to wait until it is safe to get on a ladder.

1 Chronicles 16:11 ESV Seek the Lord and His strength, seek His presence continually.

My point for the day is this. Unless you are battling a storm that requires you to step out to save a life, stay inside until all is clear. There is really nothing you can do that is worth risking your life or injury to yourself or the dogs that followed you outside.  This storm, like others will pass and you go on from there.

Life has many storms other than the type nature provides now and then. It might be a personal dilemma, a stormy relationship, illness, loss of a job, or other calamity.  The advice is the same.  Seek refuge in the arms of God. Don't rush out under your own power. Wait on Him.

Have a blessed and safe day.

You Have To Be Patient 3/12/2026

 Good Morning,

It is a cold crisp day outside and I am allowing my hot cup of Door County Cherry Creme Coffee to move slowly through my system and warm me up. It is time to write.

Yesterday, I had the experience of training our dogs with my nephew Matthew. We had with us Matt's dog, one of mine and Matt's brother's dog. You could tell that we hadn't been training much as of late because we were hunting quite a bit and winter wasn't cooperating with our efforts.

All three dogs were a little sloppy in the training arena yesterday at first. The response we were getting wasn't what I desired from all three and especially the two champions. I had to scratch what I was originally going to do for a training session and slow down and ease into it. Every time I hit the field with the "two honchos" I have come to expect almost perfection and yesterday wasn't it.

So I backed off on the skill level and intensity of the training and soon there after the dogs were coming around. I was less frustrated and so were the dogs. A little patience, less stress and more praise seemed to do the trick.

My point for the day is this. Sometimes you need to start slowly in life's daily grind and make sure all of those involved in an endeavor with you clearly understand the goal and expectations. You need to make sure that you are also clearly communicating,  and if needed go back to the basics and don't leave anyone behind.

At the end of the day, things looked better and we finished on a fun note for the dogs. Last night all three dogs in our home were content, tired and just looking to get their ears scratched. Today is a new day and yesterday forgotten.

Food for thought. God bless.

Time To Add, Not Subtract 3/11/2026

 Good Morning,

I have a hot cup of Door County Cherry Creme Coffee sitting at my desk with me. The flavor is one of my favorites. And since it is a little dreary this morning I might just have two cups to warm me up. It is time for me to write.

Proverbs 31:30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.

My side of the family has not added anyone except for marriages in a long time. Our niece and nephews have kept the family growing through marriage and that has been nice to see them flourish in their marriages. It has been a long long time since the family grew through a birth. This weekend Rene my wife will be attending a baby shower for a little baby girl who is joining the family. Our niece and nephew are welcoming their child to this world in May. I prefer not to call his wife a "niece in law". Once you marry into this clan you are a niece or nephew as well. As a great uncle to this little lady I really don't have any responsibilities.

My thought on that is really ok. My important job is to be praying for the little munchkin. First of all I need to pray for a healthy baby and an easy delivery for Momma.

And here's the list I will pray for until I die some day. I will be praying that she finds her way to Jesus as Lord and Savior at an early age. Continued good health and safety from injuries. I have already started praying that if it is her desire to marry someone, some day, that the right man will come along and be worthy of her hand. He too should love and serve the Lord.

I pray for her parents as well. We all know that raising a child is not a job for sissies. I pray for their health and welfare as well as their spiritual guidance. You probably will not find me changing a diaper or feeding a little one/ I am, allergic to both tasks. I will accept my role proudly and watch to see if she spills a lot of things like her dad did. I owe him a soggy pizza or two.

Have a great day!!!! Hug your family.

Close The Window 3/10/2026

 Good Morning,

Mu mug is filled with hot Door County Highlander Grog Coffee and it is time to write.Yesterday was sunny and warm at 73 degrees Fahrenheit and this morning is is 38 degrees Fahrenheit. That 35 degree difference is a major swing. We were able to open our windows yesterday and let the fresh air into our home.

Proverbs 19:11 NIV A person's wisdom yields patience; it is one's glory to overlook an offense.

When I was rousted out of bed by our attention deprived dogs it was pretty cold in our house. We had also turned the heat off for the day yesterday. I turned up the heat and it just seemed too long for the furnace to catch up to the heating needs.

I came upstairs to write this morning and much to my surprise we had left two windows open all night. The two of us forgot to close them and they kept the house more than cool. Once we were heated to normal, my wife and I both turned into today's version of politicians. Basically neither one of us wanted to accept responsibility for leaving the windows open all night.

Rene's excuse was this. "You opened them yesterday morning. So you are responsible for not closing them." My reply was this. "I went to bed early. You walked right by the windows and did not close them before you were in snoring mode."

Neither one of us wanted to own the small mistake and both of us could  easily own the miscue. Instead of both of us saying "oops my mistake, sorry" the blame game was into full motion. How silly it was to even go down this road of unimportant blame. Other folks in the world have bombs dropping from the air and exploding in their neighborhoods. Some are cleaning up after being struck by huge storms that spawned tornadoes.

The open windows were not an international incident and it should have been considered a blessing that they were discovered being open before the predicted rains show up. Only politicians can see finding a mistake before it is a bigger mess and then apply the blame to it when no harm was done.

Don't vote for me as husband of the year . I don't even have the support of my main constituent . Food for thought from the play 'Frozen" "Let it Go" and just close the window.

The Aroma Actually Woke Me Up. 3/9/2026

 Good Morning,

I just sat down at my desk to write and next to me on the floor are three Springer Spaniels We have a visitor with us for a few days and what a circus it is. I also am enjoying a hot mug of Door County German Chocolate Cake Coffee.  My prayer time was good and I am ready for the day.

In my effort to keep busy and actually do something that produces a decent return for my work, I have been drying different foods for consumption. It seems as if I have mastered making apple chips I have a salty version and one that tastes like apple pie.

Last night I prepped a batch of apple slices for the dryer and set the timer to run through the night. I awoke to the aroma of dried apples this morning. In another hour they will be finished. I have been known to share some of these with a few folks.  They are a good source of munchies in the turkey or duck blind

My point for the day is this. As you approach each day, find something that you can do that has a positive outcome/impact on others and for yourself. Especially those of us who are retired. Don't waste another day wondering what you are going to do. My wife and a few others recycle aluminum cans.  They use the money from the cans to support charities of their choice. Still working? Your coworkers have birthdays. Bring them a card and celebrate their day.

Many years ago a friend of mine who was hospitalized and dying from cancer called me from his bed and asked for a favor. He wondered if I could bring to him a copy of our Church directory He wanted wo use his last time on this earth to call each person or family from our church and pray with them. I did as he asked and imagine how  surprised I was when I received a call from him asking me what he could pray about for me and my family. I will never forget that call. He died the next day.

So, don't be bored with your day. There is always something you can do to take a dull day and make it a positive experience. I woke up to that sweet aroma and it will have an impact that goes beyond this morning.

Food for thought? God bless.

Maybe All You Have To Offer Are Your Problems. It's Ok 3/8/2026

 Good Morning,

I am sitting at me desk and all I see from the window is darkness. I am not so sure as to how I like Daylight Savings Time, if at all. My cup is filled with Door County Cherry Creme Coffee and it is time to write.

Maybe at this time you have a heart filled with hurt, pain and sorrow. You desire to reach out to God and you feel like all you have to offer are your woes. You try to bundle your faith into a nicely woven package and make it seem like you have it all together. Yet you just can't seem to fit the mold within your mind as to what a life of faith should look like or feel like. I am here to tell you that you don't need a thing to embrace God. He is there with open arms.

In 1981 I was a broken man who had nothing whatsoever to offer God as I somehow found myself walking in to a small Baptist church on a Sunday morning. . I felt like I did not belong there at all. I couldn't recite the names of the 66 books within the Bible. I did not know how to pray or what to say if I even tried. I only had a couple of dollars to put in the plate.

Think this through for a moment. All you might have to offer are your problems. God just asks for you to place your faith in His Son Jesus Christ and give your problems to Him. He wants to walk through your days with you. If I waited until I had something to offer a church before I joined or attended, I would still be sitting on the outside, looking in. If  I waited until all the strings of my life were wrapped into a neat and tidy bundle,  you wouldn't be reading this today. If I waited until I could preach or pray like R A Torrey to come to a saving faith and join a church I would never have entered the doors of a building with a steeple.

All God asks for is your faith no matter how weak it is. So you assess all that you don't have regarding faith and decide you will wait until things are better aligned with your idea of a church member is. You step back and go on hurting, wandering, and feeling left out.

Mark 5:34  Daughter your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.

The lady mentioned in this passage wasn't mentioned because of what she gives financially to a church or what service she can offer. Don't let issues like those block your view of what really matters. God wants your faith in Him to be enough that if all you have to offer are your hurts, He is waiting for you to dump them out and let Him help.

Food for thought. It is never too soon to step into a life of faith and join a church. God doesn't need anything you can provide. He desires to be living within your heart. He has enough of everything else.

Don't Miss The Train 3/7/2026

 Good Morning,

I have been looking forward to my hot cup of Door County Cinnamon Hazelnut Coffee since I set it yesterday to brew at 4:00AM  today.

Ephesians 1:16 I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.

We all know someone who has done something for us once or many times over and over again. It is a real shame when we miss the opportunity to recognize their thoughtfulness, or kindness by truly letting them know that you appreciate what they did or do for you. We should never assume that there will be a better time to say thank you than the immediate time right after a kindness was bestowed upon you.

It seems like the "Thank You Train" moves on pretty quickly and before you know it the perfect time has disappeared. When God places it on our heart to provide a special thank you like a card, flowers, a fishing lure, we should act immediately and not wait to bestow a gift of our feelings of thanks to whoever has gone out of their way for us. A thank you should be as immediate as you can make it. One that is months in the making is not really as sincere as it should be. I am not here to educate you today on ways to say thank you.  This is just a reminder not to miss the Thank You Train. It  might be too late to jump on.

Food for thought. God bless.

Settle In To Friday 3/6/2026

 Good Morning,

What a way to start a morning. I just poured a hot cup of Door County Inn Keepers Blend Coffee and it is time to write.

Sometimes life gets to be a little too much to handle. Life seems to pile up a big ration of confusion, hurt, anger or makes us aware of all of our mistakes. Somewhere along the way we just decide to move on from the sorrow, anger, emotional pain, embarrassments, or issues that seem to last a lifetime.

We get our dander up and we just move on and put all that garbage into our rear view mirror. But is that what God really wants us to do? Running away, starting over, or hiding from the past might not be His plan. There are times when the escape route get's blocked and God returns us right back to where we were running from. Or He clearly wants us to move on and we in doubt and fear crawl back to the relationship or issue that we were escaping from which is really no good for us.

In the book of  Genesis, God clearly wanted Lot and His family to move on from Sodom and Gomorrah.

But Lot's wife looked back after being instructed not to even take a peek. What we leave behind is not worth going back to or it is toxic to the soul.

Genesis 19:26 NKJV But his wife looked back behind him and she became a pillar of salt.

On the other hand, there are times when we are running away, but God takes us right back to where we began running from, which at times is the right choice and better option.

Luke 15:17-18 NKJV But when he came to himself, he said, "How many of my father's hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger.  18. I will arise and go to my Father and say to him. Father I have sinned against heaven and before you.

The key to the story today is to know God's plan for you and then follow it. Do we go back and mend fences or move on and build new fences?

Jeremiah 29:11 NIV For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord.

Food for thought. I think I will go and enjoy the heat from the fireplace and have another cup of coffee.

God bless.

What Kind Of Friend Are You? 3/5/2026

 Good Morning.

I am very content with my seat at my desk and the hot cup of Door County Country Morning Blend Coffee that is steaming next to me.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. 10. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up.

We all in one way or another desire to have friends, or to be friendly ourselves.  I have friends who pray for me whenever God leads them to and most of the time I don't even know that they prayed for me.  They are faithful with their prayers. Others will pick up the phone or send a text to ask how I am doing.

In praying for a friend, God may lead you to go above and beyond a little bit. I asked in today's title 'What Kind Of Friend Are You"? Are you one with a soft heart for people? Are you willing to ask God what to do for your friends? Can you be stirn with a friend if they need  some chastising? Can you be called upon late in the night?

A good friend sees a need and is there without even being asked to do so. They are friendly 24 hours a day. They put others first and do not expect anything in return.  So be friendly and let God lead you as to how to be a friend today.

God bless,

Marty

Deep In Thought Today 3/4/2026

 Good Morning,

My choice for my morning beverage is Door County Almond Toffee Coffee and it is time to write.

I have a lot on my mind today and for many reasons. I for sure will be in prayer and quiet as I sort out my thoughts, and emotions. I am missing a family member who is no longer with us, it would be his earthly birthday today. I envy his birthday experience in heaven this fine morning.

Romans 12:2 NKJV And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

I will relive some memories in my mind for awhile today and then pour myself into the day God has given me. Basically I will give my self a reboot spiritually, and emotionally.I often perform a reboot by sitting back and counting my blessings. Then giving thanks for those blessings gets me back on track.

Food for thought.

Exhale, Breathe, And Trust 3/3/2026

 Good Morning,

My hot cup of Door County Almond Toffee Coffee is sitting next to me and the aroma is leading me to drink some more this morning.

On a global scale we have war raging in Iran this week. Oil prices are high so everything that requires shipping will be more expensive. Dear friends of mine are watching their bed ridden son slowly die from the impacts of a lifelong battle with cancer.  Some home will be undergoing a family split. Two more shootings took place just in my part of the world. What went up up up with the stock market seems to want to go down, down down. Some flag draped coffins will be finding their way back home and a families will be hurting like never before.

I don't know about you but it seems like the world is out of control. I found myself looking for comfort within God's word as I asked "Hey God Are You Out There?"

It is not that God isn't out there. It is the fact that I am judging Him not on trust but on what I see. Shame on me. God's word is clear that we need to trust in God despite what we see.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge and submit to Him and He will make your paths straight.

Our plans might not always work out. But God's plans never fail

Isaiah 5:8-9 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways." declares the Lord.  "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Trust in God will help us to navigate through these uncertain times. Pray my friends.

God bless.

Advice For A Monday 3/2/2026

 Good Morning,

I am slowly sipping on a hot cup of Door County German Chocolate Cake Coffee and resting as I write.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven.

2. A time to be born, And a time to die; A time to plant, And a time to pluck what is planted.

3. A time to kill, And a time to heal; And a time to break down, And a time to build up;

4. A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance;

5.A time to cast away stones, And a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing;

6. A time to gain, And a time to lose; A time to keep, And a time to throw away.

7. A time to tear, And a time to sew; A time to keep silence, And a time to speak.

8. A time to love, And a time to hate; A time of war, And a time of peace.

Monday snuck in like a thief in the night and it is here to stay. I experienced a pretty busy weekend the last few days and I am a little bit worn and torn from the time spent outside. I have to say that the three days being as busy as they were showed me one thing. I am no youngster anymore!

My point for today is this my friends. Time slows down for no one. It seems like just yesterday these two legs of mine could hunt for eight hours and go again the next day without too much effort. Now, I hunt for four hours and then I am still sore the next day.  But here is my point, I still try to do my best and enjoy life with the things I do, but mix in some moderation. I am making my goal for the future to still be active and do the things I enjoy as much as possible. I however will not moderate time spent with friends and family and most of all God. I think as my activities in the outdoors may decrease a little, my time with friends, family and God will increase.

It is a win win situation any way you look at it. So heed the warnings your body might be giving you and don't sit in a comfortable chair that begins to attach itself to your rear end. There is time for everything. Sometimes the time needs to be rearranged a little.

God bless,

Marty

Favorite Bible Verse 3/1/2026

 Good Morning,

The Door County German Chocolate Cake Coffee woke me up and placed a call to me to come to the kitchen for my first cup. It is time to write.

I was taking a short survey and in the survey it asked me what my favorite Bible verse is. I find that to be difficult to answer. I have to say my favorite verse is the one I just read and it spoke to my heart. The one I like best is the one God led me to in that moment. The last one that just made me feel good, or instructed me is my favorite for that moment in time.

If I were to say that one Bible verse out of 66 books  is my favorite would make me whimsical at best.

But for today I will take a shot at picking one.

Matthew 11:28-30 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. 29. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you find rest for your souls. 30. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

My point for the day is this. You can't have a favorite verse if you haven't opened the book. Trust me. There is a least one in there for you.

God Bless,

Marty
