Meeting People 7/30/13

Good Morning,

Back to work and if I were starting my day with the coffee of my choice it would be a huge cup of Door County Maple. I am longing for fall to arrive so I can order some. It is one of their seasonal flavors.

Each day is a new dawn. Each day brings opportunity to meet a new person, a new encounter with someone. It might be at work or school. It could be at the market or just on the street. In each new encounter a person that meets you for the first time starts to form their opinion of you. It is this first impression that is one that is hard to change for the good or bad. This usually takes place in the first 20 seconds of the encounter.

Do you greet people with a smile?
Do you say "good morning, good afternoon, or good evening'?
Do you extend a handshake?
Do you open the door?
Do you make eye contact?
Do you seem approachable?
Do you say please and thank you.
Do they see Jesus in you?

Matthew 5:14-16 (ESV)

14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

In a few short seconds an opinion of yourself and your Savior can be made. That few precious seconds are very important. We waste a lot of time doing things. But don't waste the first 20 seconds of a first time meeting. The Jesus you represent might be the only bit of Jesus someone will see all day.

God bless,
Marty
