Don't Pick The Scab 6/7/2026

 Good Morning,

I am sitting at my desk with a hot cup of Door County Irish Creme Coffee and just a couple of thoughts to share.

1 Thessalonians 5:15  See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all.

Having grown up in a neighborhood where on one street there was little to no traffic became a place where pick up touch football games were played. One did his best to stay upright during the game, and avoid the results from sliding to the concrete.

Now and then a knee, hand or elbow found it's way to the abrasive concrete. You went home after the game and nursed the abrasion yourself  and if it was too big or bloody you called on the resident doctor "Mom". After a couple of days passed a good scab had formed and started to itch. Dr. Mom warned you not to pick the scab as the wound would heal from the inside out better. Removing the scab allowed for infection to set in. It was best not to add injury to the wounded area.

It is the same advice God gives us when we have been wronged. Avoid the inevitable urge to hurt back and add fuel to a feud or misunderstanding. Adding fuel to the flames of hurt and anger can only make the issue worse and expandable to others.

Retaliation can be like a fast spreading cancer. It grows and consumes our days with anger and rage which eats at our hearts. Road rage is a perfect example of retaliation gone bad. Bad added to bad only makes for more bad.

Food for thought!

Marty
