Eyes Right! And Stay Busy. 4/28/2015

Good Morning,

The day has started with my mug filled with Door County Peanut Butter Crunch Coffee. Spiritually, my cup runs over with anticipation as to what God has planned for our church mission team.

2 Samuel 11 New International Version (NIV)

David and Bathsheba

11 In the spring, at the time when kings go off to war, David sent Joab out with the king’s men and the whole Israelite army. They destroyed the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah. But David remained in Jerusalem.
One evening David got up from his bed and walked around on the roof of the palace. From the roof he saw a woman bathing. The woman was very beautiful, and David sent someone to find out about her. The man said, “She is Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam and the wife of Uriah the Hittite.” Then David sent messengers to get her. She came to him, and he slept with her. (Now she was purifying herself from her monthly uncleanness.) Then she went back home. The woman conceived and sent word to David, saying, “I am pregnant.”

This story starts with King David not staying busy leading the Israelites as he was called to by God. During his time of chosen idleness David fell to temptation by not keeping his eyes at home. When we choose to be inactive or away from what God wants us to do we leave ourselves wide open for trouble to knock on our door. The problem is that when trouble knocks it is already too late. We are pretty much ready to open the door.

Men and ladies we all need to be about the Lord's business, working in our vocation and tending to our families as we are called to do so. Idleness is dangerous to our spiritual health.

Stay busy, doing the right things and you will avoid a whole lot of heartache.

God bless,
Marty
