Closing The Lake Home 11/22/2017

Good Morning,

The day has begun with prayer and peace of mind. My mug was just filled with Door County Dublin's Delight Coffee. My mind is set in motion for the day and my heart is in tune with my mind.

Tonight I will make a six hour trip to Northern Michigan to close up our Dad's home for the winter. Dad left this world a year ago and the home is up for sale. I will be meeting two people who have placed an offer to purchase the home. So for me this will probably be my last trip to the house where our parents lived since 1986. There are a lot of memories in that place and the trip will be bittersweet. The lake home is just too far away for us to keep and the common sense thing to do is to sell it to people that will love and enjoy their time on a beautiful lake. I will carry in my mind the view of the lake in the fall from the deck forever.

There comes a time when you can't follow emotion but need to use common sense even when it is a pill that isn't easy to swallow. Of course the decision to sell was prayed for and I personally have peace about our decision.

One of the gifts that God has equipped all of us with is the ability to make sound decisions with common sense. The one thing that gets in the way of common sense is emotion. Emotion can cloud our vision of the truth and sense of direction. We pray and have the answer to our decisions and then we let emotion place a cloud over what should be easy choices. If God leads us to it, He will lead us through it.

Proverbs 2:7-11New Living Translation (NLT)
He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest.
He is a shield to those who walk with integrity.
He guards the paths of the just
and protects those who are faithful to him.
Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair,
and you will find the right way to go.
10 For wisdom will enter your heart,
and knowledge will fill you with joy.
11 Wise choices will watch over you.
    Understanding will keep you safe.

Prayer leads to common sense, and common sense must be followed with obedience in order to have peace and harmony of the heart.

So have a great day!

Marty
