Holding On To Anger 11/27/15

Good Morning,

My Door County Apple Cobbler Coffee started late today, but my day started way too early. Our grandson and I were out before 5AM hunting bargains at the after Thanksgiving sales. I am beat, but we succeeded in saving some dollars and found some Christmas gifts.

When we hit the jack pot on some of the gifts at one mall, we had a lot of packages to carry. Some of them were kind of heavy and we had a long way to walk with them. We also had to walk in extreme rain once we made it outside making it even more difficult. I could not wait to get those packages out myhands and into the truck. It felt good to unload the boxes and bags and let the truck do the work.

The mall is about five miles from our home. It would have made no sense whatsoever to carry all those packages and walk home. The burden needed to released. The packages would have been ruined and I would have pneumonia as well as some very sore arms. That's what the truck is for.

Anger is like that my friends. Things happen to us, people happen to us or we make mistakes and anger is our first response.
Then somewhere along the way we decide to hang on to the anger so long that it causes harm to us. We are bitter. Who likes bitter people? We can't get along with others. We lash out in anger, which is a sin. We take on the job of 17 people as judge and jury over others, so we end up exhausting ourselves. We can become unapproachable. God clearly warns us about anger and also shows us a way to keep from carrying a bushel of it with us in our daily lives.

Psalm 37: 1-8

 Do not fret because of evildoers,
Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity.
For they shall soon be cut down like the grass,
And wither as the green herb.
Trust in the Lord, and do good;
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass.
He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light,
And your justice as the noonday.
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him;
Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.
Cease from anger, and forsake wrath;
Do not fret—it only causes harm

When we truly delight ourselves in the Lord, and give our anger over to Him, and wait patiently, He brings it to pass without harm.

Lighten your load today.

Marty
