Bracing For A Storm 2/12/2025

 Good Morning,

I just poured myself a hot cup of Door County Brownie Batter Coffee. The dogs have been fed and it is time to write.

Psalm 74:17 It was you who set the boundaries of the earth, You made both summer and   winter.

As I sit here at my desk, the thought of the day is "snow storm". For a couple days now we have been listening to the weather forecasts advising us that a storm is headed our way. The forecast is calling for a substantial amount of snow but not as much snow as storms of the past. Last night those in charge of the schools started canceling most of the daily activities and issued a "snow day". Gas stations were busier than normal as folks filled their tanks. The extra weight helps with traction in the snow, and a full tank is best for traveling in winter just in case you slide into a ditch. So while you wait to be pulled out of your snowy jail you can stay warm.

Again as far as the forecast goes, this storm will not compare to some I have been in during my lifetime. I would have to say this, and I could be wrong. It seems to me that many folks want a snow storm. Maybe they enjoy shoveling out the driveway. To me it is just another chore to do. Some folks will now be able to ride their snow mobiles . A day off of work for some. A day away from school for some. My crock pot is filled with some cream of rice soup. I was going to make some anyway.

Now if the weather folks get this wrong and it snows for a whole day and over a foot of snow falls, there will be a lot of complaints and anger.

In life you can't always receive the storm you desire. Some bad days arrive and heap more disaster on you than what you can handle. Some days the storms arrive and they don't leave for awhile. Be prepared to ride out the troubles of life (storms) and have your spiritual locker ready at all times. Be in the word of God daily. Pray without ceasing for yourself and others. And don't be so cocky as to inviting storms in. " I can find a job anytime. So I don't care if I lose mine" "We will be ok. I have plenty of money in the bank". These are just a couple of foolish statements made by folks who ended up losing everything.

Be careful what you wish for. And don't invite the storms of life to test your preparedness.

Have a great day.

Marty
