Good Morning,
The large mug sitting next to me is filled with Door County Highlander Grog Coffee and it is doing a great job of waking me up.
Psalm 90:12 So teach us to number our days that we may have a heart of wisdom.
I am in Georgia on an extended visit with our daughter. The visit is much needed and long overdue. I am still involved with things back home. My wife Rene keeps everything in control. I call to check in and let her know that things here are fine and to see if she needs anything back home. Saturday night she was telling me how she and the neighbors went to church. Rene drives a little car pool and the tree of them went shopping after church. One of the passengers "Mike" told her that he needed a few things for the Super Bowl yesterday.
After our phone call concluded, something with the call did not sit right. I kept thinking that my daughter and I needed to get a couple of steaks and celebrate the super bowl game. With as much as we have going on right now it wasn't a surprise that we were not ready for a meal and some snacks.
Then it hit me like a ton of bricks. I Googled the Super Bowl and found that it is still a week away and will be played this coming Sunday.
I called Rene and told her the news and heard a big OOPS on the line. "Mike bought some cheese and salami for the game, and some other snacks."
In their defense Mike lives in assisted living and at times needs help with calendar management. Except to watch the commercials Rene could care less about the game. But she likes a juicy steak as much as I do. I called Mike and stopped him from having the cheese sliced up and all will be well.
My point for the day is this. With good intentions meant, just a little misinformation can cause a disturbance. We need to always verify information whenever possible. There wasn't really any harm done, just a little mistake. But if Mike had purchased tings that were more perishable and could not hold for a week it would have been costly. Also if he had invited his Assisted Living friends to some cheese, salami and crackers he would have been the chuckle of the day.
Again no big deal. But just a little wrong information can set the wheels turning on some action and in an instant some damage can be done that is harmful. I have been working with Mike to keep a calendar current and manage appointments and special dates. And for some folks it is important for others to assist and make that calendar a tool that is workable. This is a good lesson for children at an early age to learn. Being on time on the right date is important. As much information as to the details of the calendar entry should be available for the children and the whole family.
God bless.
Marty
