Memories Aren't Always That Great 2/1/2025

 Good Morning,

A hot cup of Door County Highlander Grog Coffee greeted me this morning. And I am ready to face the day.

I wrote about a book that was given to me by my nephew. "Uncle, I want to Hear Your Story." It is an uncle's guided Journal to share his story. I have some extra time on my hands these days and I have been working diligently to finish this for him.

The book is divided into seasons of a man's life. It asks you to answer questions about yourself and at times about others in your life. It is thought provoking and often causes some anxiety in the memory locker. The admission and explanation on life's failures has been hurtful and at time painful. Even the great memories are sometimes clouded in tears. He will be reading this and he has sensitive heart. He will be thinking," I should not have asked Uncle Marty to do this." Quite the contrary. It is a journal that shows me how much I was and am loved. It has shown me my life and how God's hand has been there leading me. It also shows when God's hand was rejected and I went on my own power. It is usually the pages within the book that have dark shadows, are the times when God wasn't number one in my life.

Colossians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I that live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me.

Some of the mishaps in my life have been placed on the back shelf of my mind and not forgotten, just not dwelled on that much. God is wonderful that way. He let's us move on after He forgives us. The consequences stay but the memory fades away. I believe that God does not make us dwell in the past. He is gracious to take the memory and use it now and then to remind us where were were in life and not to go there again.

Our God is an awesome God.
