See The Stop Sign? 10/8/2018

Good Morning,

Wow, where did the weekend go? It will be back at the end of this week so I won't spend time wishing days of my life away. But I will write to all of you while sipping a cup of Door County Wisconsin Harvest Blend Coffee and remember last weekend fondly.

Romans 13:1-5 New Living Translation (NLT)

Respect for Authority

13 Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished. For the authorities do not strike fear in people who are doing right, but in those who are doing wrong. Would you like to live without fear of the authorities? Do what is right, and they will honor you. The authorities are God’s servants, sent for your good. But if you are doing wrong, of course you should be afraid, for they have the power to punish you. They are God’s servants, sent for the very purpose of punishing those who do what is wrong. So you must submit to them, not only to avoid punishment, but also to keep a clear conscience

I live in a small subdivision in Wisconsin. Our home is right at the intersection of two streets. I have written about this before. So I guess it makes me the "old crabby guy who complains". Yesterday while I was outside I saw several people ignore the stop sign at the intersection across from our home and then roll through the stop sign which leads to the main East /West Road which actually takes you somewhere.

I am not up on the law and penalty for blowing a stop sign anymore. But the last time I was informed about running a stop sign it was still illegal. Besides seeing the road abuse, I witnessed a near miss between two cars. Both drivers were blessed to not have that one happen. One was traveling well beyond the speed limit and the other ran the stop sign.

My point is this. If the fear of running a stop sign seems to be gone ,what is next? When we find it easy to disobey this law, what else will become easy for us to do or justify? We need to protect ourselves from becoming numb to sin and be aware that becoming numb to it can be dangerous to our relationships as well as our bodies. After all car accidents not only damage cars, they injure or kill people. Being numb to sin can cause all kinds of calamity.

1 Peter 5:8 New King James Version (NKJV)

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

So beware!

Marty
