A House Of Strife 10/9/18

Good Morning,

The old java maker is brewing a pot of Door County Turtles In A Cup Coffee and I can smell the aroma from two rooms away. What a nice way to wake up.

Proverbs 17 New King James Version (NKJV)

17 Better is a dry morsel with quietness,

Than a house full of feasting with strife.

The Bible passage for today is one that cuts deep to the marrow of bone and the heart. Basically God tells us through this passage, it is better to dine on a a bread crumb in a house of peace and love, than to dine at a feast in a home filled with strife.

Most homes filled with strife are almost always self inflicted. In a home filled with strife there is often  a journey to assign blame to members of the home. It is very hard to look within and do a root cause analysis which would point to one's self. When an RCA is applied to a home with strife the answer is always this. Who is the head of the home? If it isn't God, there is room provided for failure. Each family member is responsible for their own relationship with God. But in general if the home is not centered on the Lord, it usually has more than it's ration of strife. And as stress on steel can cause steel to bend and lose it's shape, it can also cause a home/family to bend and possibly break. Each family member must look within and see if the Lord rules their portion of the home and family. It's a simple test. Where do you spend most of your money? You will see where your heart lies. How consistent are you with your church attendance? How many times do you miss in a month and for what reason? How are the family dynamics going? Failed the test. Seek God and get it right.

Psalm 127:1 New King James Version (NKJV)

Laboring and Prospering with the Lord

A Song of Ascents. Of Solomon.

127 Unless the Lord builds the house,

They labor in vain who build it;
Unless the Lord guards the city,
The watchman stays awake in vain

We see In Psalm 127 the hard cold fact that unless the Lord builds the house, we labor in vain to build a family. It's amazing to think that some people are content with little as far as possessions go, as long as God is the Lord of their homes. They place greater stock in family. They respect, love and fear God. It's sad to see those with so much, place more worth on possessions than a peaceful home.

So choose this day whom you worship and serve. To love and serve yourself, or to truly love God and serve Him, that is the question. What is your answer?

Marty
