Living in Peace 10/26/13

Good Morning,

Saturday morning and the old coffee cup is filled to the top with some Door County Harvest Blend.

Most of you know that I enjoy duck hunting. One of the times I enjoy best is the 15 minutes before legal shooting time. You are usually sitting in the dark, gun is loaded, decoys are out and it seems as if a whole lake can quiet itself. There have been times while waiting for the time to shoot that I could literally hear my heart beat. What a time of peace.

I think if each day, all day long could be like that for all of us this world would be a better place. God tells us in the Bible that we should live at peace.

Romans 12:18 (NKJV)

18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.

You say that's impossible. But God says.

Matthew 19:26 (NIV)

26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

I know what life is like. I live it just like everyone else. Family stress, work issues, government shutdowns, sickness are common to me also. These alone can trigger wars within and without.

But yet God has an expectation of us.

Matthew 5:9 (NIV)

Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.

Not only are we to live in peace but yet we are to be ambassadors of peace.

See despite what you think, we are to work for peace, be at peace and live in peace. But yet this world gets ugly and we wonder if there is real peace.

You have to remember that this world is not our home. We are just passing through. In heaven we will experience peace and love eternally. But while we are here we should try to make the world a better place. This is an expectation of God.

Have a great day.
Marty
